So what furry-related do you guys do when you don't have a boner? Almost everything on this subreddit is just furry smut, and don't get me wrong, I'm on board with that when I'm actually horny - but then I take care of my business and I'm like, is that all there is to furries? Even the "regular" furry activities such as cons, fursuiting, etc. often seem to have some kind of a suspicious musky quality to them, like they're just implicitly supposed to lead on to something sexual.

Secondly, I draw furry pictures and comics that aren't porn. I have a fursona that I don't use for porn. I read comics and watch movies that have furry shit that isn't porn. I used to watch western cartoons more and I enjoyed discussing animation in general. I also used to be more interested in furry art in general but now I usually only really follow artists for the porn, but sometimes I'm in the mood to look at sfw art. I lurk here.

It's really not. I'm sure a self-respecting neckbeard such as yourself has never actually used reddit because otherwise would be impure, but r/furry is actually a massive circlejerk. /fur/ is pretty refreshing in that, even though there's still a lot of false-flagging baiting assholes that derail to one or two topics, there's a solid variety of opinions. r/furry, and reddit in general, has a very hugbox safe space attitude where you can say nothing wrong, whatsoever. It's especially apparent whenever someone posts their shitty first attempt to draw an anthro fox and it looks like ass because they have no concept of proportions or even the experience or wherewithal to know what they are doing wrong or where to begin correcting it, and of course everyone's going to say it looks beautiful.B>>111336

I've been slowly creating a personalized in-depth world full of characters loosely built around the basis of a particular spirituality I've been researching. It's getting to the point that I have a lot of fun ideas for interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts between the characters using the basis of that spirituality, but I'm currently lacking an overarching plot to bring it together and a medium that I would like to portray it in. I am likely to die without having realised anything of this world, but it's still a fun hobby that involves furry characters.
Aside from that, I have a small, curated group of friends whom are furries that I play video games with, I greatly enjoy SFW art, and here lately have been picking up a little bit of woodworking with the goal to carve animal figurines. And, of course, I shitpost on 8chan.

It's hard to consider it constructive, and it also wasn't very critical. He received some amount of advice that's distracting from anything actually helpful for his skills, such as how literally everything in the figure was drawn using symbols, from the eyes to the tufts of fur, and that he hasn't actually even begin to construct a figure that could exist in the world. Aside from that, look at how the advisor has to dance around their advice (it's unsolicited advice, even though the post is literally a cry for help - which of course is combined with an absurd compliment that he has a talent for drawing) and has to finish the advice up with an IMO just to make sure no one berates him for not exalting the brave OP for posting their disabled dog on reddit.

Leddit is more bearable than cuckchan nowadays actually. Post in a niche subreddit with an inquiry and you probably get an answer. Post in a 4chin board with the same inquiry and you get a dozen le funny ironic pepes and wojaks, then a SJW shitpost which gets countered with a dozen poltard shitposts, repeat ad nauseam. The mentality you describe on r/furry seems more related to its audience probably being younger on average.

I was about to say that's also the same on r/tf2 and it's not exclusive to r/furry, but the userbases of those two subs probably overlap by 90% or something.
Anyway, it still happens here on this board and on the internet in general.
Literally anything that's one step above a "me, mama, papa, home" fridge drawing, people will eat it up. Furries will even pay for it, even more than normal people pay for art made by real artists.

I know OP is just a retard but I'm seriously curious about something; Why are furries always looking for ways to express how much of a furfag they are? Like, it's just a hobby, you don't have to shove furfaggotry into everything you do and others don't need to know about your furfaggotry

They might be aiming to "legitimize" their furriness (no matter how clumsily) by mixing it with regular activities, perhaps after being shittalked over it by a relative calling it infantile or something. A similar process as the "video games are ART" hipster crowd goes through.

What about it being a hobby should make people not shove it into everything? How many musicians walk around with shirts of bands? How many gamers buy shitty merch and bumper stickers of their favorite games? How many train enthusiasts have train themed decor in their house? The answer is a lot. A lot of them do.

One doesn't usually go to a furry-specific board on 8chan subreddit for innocent cute pictures. And you don't go to /fur/ /r/yiff to talk about furry video games, you go to /v/. It's not so much that people only care about furry for the lewds, but that there's no other point in only talking about furry specifically in one place especially if everyone already expects that place to be full of lewd stuff. Like, why talk about Watership Down with furries when I can talk about it with people who are into books or people who just like rabbits?

You're ignoring both the furries that don't have meltdowns by being insulted for being a furry, as well as the gamers et al that have meltdowns by being insulted for their particular hobby. Autism is autism, regardless of what hobby it flourishes in.

>And you don't go to /fur/ /r/yiff to talk about furry video games, you go to /v/.
I opened up /v/ and the literal first thread is about ExHentai. Turns out, it's possible for hobbies to have intersections - gamer, weeb, and furry culture is basically the holy trinity of Internet shitposters. Aside from that, a few more threads down the list is some SJW bullshit that I don't really want to look too far into. The reason why one goes to a [hobby]-specific [location] is either a) to talk about that hobby, which in all cases there's only so much to talk about, and b) connect with like-minded people with a formation of a like point of interest. While I've spent a long time sifting through literal human refuse, a lot of my best Internet friends that I've connected to through manners other than furry are also furries, because we have more overlapping interests to discuss and build rapport over. On the flip side, few furries I've spoken to have actually grown close to me unless we shared another interest. In a few cases, I've witnessed the transformation of someone from 'normal' to furry over the course of a decade, which was particularly enjoyable.

Gotta agree here, worldbuilding is one of the most satisfying things you can do related to furry shit. You can spend as much time as you want on it and never run out of things to think about, as long as you're more creative than a rock, and you can do it with or without other people, depending on what you're looking for. I personally have spent time developing a whole imaginary galaxy. The sky is really the limit here.

It's just easier to talk about those when it involves a cross-over of furries - especially in the case of furry games typically being either cartoony in aesthetic and thus decried as being a children's game or the opposite extreme of being fetishistic and R-18, like Changed and Nekojishi. While you can talk about Klonoa on /v/, most of those threads just turn into furbait and become mired with porn - ironically, I'd expect you to get more fulfilling discussion in /fur/ about Klonoa than you would /v/. A point towards this - who else but furries would care about Klonoa to such a degree as respecting the fictional language of Phantomilian?
Of course, your point is understandable, and anyone that has to explicitly connect furry to everything probably has some issues, but the intersection of hobbies presents much closer rapport, typically.

There are a lot of games that look really bad, but could have some interesting discussion. While Dust threads on /v/ do tend to get destroyed by faggotry, there are a few people that like to talk about the combat system.
Take something like Changed - it's fetishistic, but it's not intrinsically R-18, and looks and plays like hot pixelshit garbage. If you get past how blatantly fetishistic it is and the poor, broken Engrish of the translation, I think there's an absolutely fascinating and interesting world built into it, and despite how bad it plays, it has a very interesting balance of risk vs. reward and story delivery that comes out in a great way. I waxed poetically about it for a few hours to my boyfriend, then reached the room in the first picture and hated everything.
A few games get a pass like Undertale, but the point remains that sometimes the better group to discuss a topic matter is the intersection of two hobbies.
