Cats (the musical) grossed over $2 billion dollars. In the 80s. And all musicals since then have tried to copy Cats' formula.
It's actually a big fucking deal of a movie.
You may have not wanted it, but a shitton of other people absolutely did.
They nailed the look, because that's how the real actors playing the musical actually look. All except having fur all over their bodies and being cat-sized.
When you finally realize and look at it for what it is, i.e. a real musical on steroids, it's actually quite good.
