There's something about the culture there too that I feel just makes better artists. I suspect a lot of them get into art and then get into furry shit later whereas in the Europe and US, there's a lot of getting into art because of liking furry shit instead.

I always see people worry about this full ownership thing, but after years of getting stuff, it's never been an issue for me at all. Artists tend to like you reposting their stuff since it's free advertisement for them and they're not stupid enough to try to claim ownership of the characters in the piece either. If you're wanting to use your thing commercially, it's common practice anyways for commercial licenses on stuff to be more expensive than personal use stuff.

I've had a fairly popular artist I was pals with ask me to not publicly post something, but it was because I was having them draw a cutesy macro/micro thing and they wanted to stay as far as they could from some of the kinkier macro stuff. Ok, so here's the thing about the dota server, I was never actually a mod. I told engio as a joke that I wanted a name above people because I wanted "the illusion of power" for fake importance but none of the responsibility.

As for what engio does in his free time, I really don't know, I just play dota with him, or used to till I switched to league of legends. I don't have any personal cutoff outside of whatever I've set my random spending budget at. I've gotten a couple pieces that I dropped multiple hundreds on and feel they were 100% worth it while I have others that I only spent maybe $40 on and regret buying. There's a lot of variables that go into me deciding whether or not something is a good price. Depending on what is drawn, how it's drawn, who's drawing it, and a ton of other things, what is a nice price can vary a lot. Besides personal experience and gut feelings, there's not really any single universal standard for deciding whether or not something is a good price. It's better to think of it as a gradient of good/bad prices than as some black and white situation. I think my most expensive piece to date (by far) was approaching $400, but it was from an incredibly talented artist and thankfully I am very happy with how it turned out.
As long as you're happy with what you get and you're not putting any unreasonable financial stress onto yourself, then that was probably an acceptable price. Don't spend outside of your means or outside of your comfort zone. NEVER let art get in the way of putting food on your plate and a roof over your head. Don't be that guy.

Publicly, no. A lot of artists ask people to not post the full res publicly, so I intend to respect those wishes. Now of course, I can't stop you from looking up the artist of some piece and pulling the full res from yiffparty. I'd imagine most of the fancier stuff I've gotten is on there. I'm sure there's some artists I've worked with who don't care about me posting full res stuff either. I can see about uploading a file somewhere with some unposted high res pics if I have the time. It was originally supposed to be Latias + Arceus but Rasha said the character evolved beyond that with how artists interpreted the character description differently.
Honestly I'm not really sure what to think of it because on one hand I agree it's interesting seeing character evolution over time, but I personally probably wouldn't like it just because I feel my sona is a bit like an identity (for the lack of a better comparison) and shifting the design around constantly would kinda bum me out.

I paid $60 for a lesbian 69 and am seriously wondering if the artist pulled a Pat Lee and only drew the visible parts instead of sketching the full body?
