So I've been thinking about finally cutting out sugar. Any of you /nosugar/? What are some of the benefits I can expect?

9f78e0  No.142596

Cut out sugar a few months ago. First few weeks are difficult but after a while your body forgets about it. If you’re like me and drank heaps of soda, substitute it for green tea. Lost 20kg in just over 2 months. Sign up to a gym also. Goes hand in hand.

I think there are probably a lot of benefits to cutting refined sugar/corn syrups out of your diet by dropping things like sodas and sugary snacks. I personally also avoid drinks that are artificially sweetened or are so called "diet" drinks, mostly because I think they taste gross and not necessarily because they are unhealthy. (Of course these drinks also don't have sugar in them) However I think cutting all sugar out of your diet is overzealous. For example, I have not been presented with any compelling evidence that cutting fruit out of your diet will improve your health. I certainly enjoy eating fruit very much and I wouldn't consider dropping fruit from my diet just because they contain sugars. I would recommend moderation more than anything else, and eating a Werther's Original once in a while isn't going to hurt you. Of course you probably shouldn't make them a significant part of your diet either.

Yeah, guess I should have clarified I mean processed sugars.

My mother has kept processed sugar out of her diet for over a decade and I've talked with her about it. I personally eat very little sugar but I haven't cut it out completely. Don't expect any miracles.

1. You won't crave sugar.

2. Things with less sugar such as apples, berries, etc. will taste sweeter. Though don't expect to ever get the sugar dopamine rush of a can of soda through a strawberry.

3. The things with less sugar won't give you a sugar rush and crash, so you will feel more awake and have more energy throughout the day if you have been drinking a lot of sodas every day.

4. You will tolerate the taste of things with basically no sugar better, such as unsweetened oatmeal.

5. Especially if you are living in America you will be shocked by how everything has sugar in it. Not only that, how everything has high fructose corn syrup in it, which is the worst kind of sugar.

6. Lots of sugar will make you sick. After long enough drinking half a can of soda will make you feel unwell. Even though I still eat sugar just by limiting my sugar intake I still feel this. It's not just that I don't want to drink soda, I can't drink soda or else I will be sick to my stomach.

7. Once you cut out the empty calories you will loose weight. Doubly so if you eat more protein because you will fill up faster.

8. Cutting out sugar will make you more conscious about what you are eating as a whole. Being aware of what you are eating is the first step to reaching a target weight, whether you want to gain or loose.

While you are at the stage where you are aware of what you're eating and reading a lot of nutrition labels you would be remiss not to move on to more healthy food and start counting calories. That way even if you move back to eating processed sugar you know how it fits in your diet and you know how much you can let yourself eat. Even if you don't count calories keep a list every day of things that you eat and at the end of the week look through those daily lists of the previous week.

>2. Things with less sugar such as apples, berries, etc. will taste sweeter. Though don't expect to ever get the sugar dopamine rush of a can of soda through a strawberry.

this is quite true, I've reduced how much I eat in sugary stuff and now eating something like a ripe strawberry is an absolute treat. There are a lot of fruits that I just fucking love now, but that I used to dislike because they tasted either bland or sour. Things like dates and pineapple are my go-to desserts because they're so damn tasty.

>6. Lots of sugar will make you sick. After long enough drinking half a can of soda will make you feel unwell. Even though I still eat sugar just by limiting my sugar intake I still feel this. It's not just that I don't want to drink soda, I can't drink soda or else I will be sick to my stomach.

This is definitely true for me, I tried a small piece of peanut butter-butterscotch fudge the other day (it was like a 1 inch cube, so not a huge piece mind you) but as soon as I had finished eating it, I felt gross inside. I can still eat some sugary things without feeling that way, like if I tried eating ice cream that was made with real cream and no corn syrup or anything. Of course I still try to avoid that since those kind of treats aren't good for your body. But I think "high-quality" junk food can at least help enrich your life, i.e. a really nice slice of cheesecake. Like food for the soul, if you will I also remember when I was younger, that my mom used to drink a lot of sodas. Coke, in particular, which I think she mainly drank because she liked the caffeine. I remember when she decided to lose weight that she cut herself off of soda for about 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks she decided that she would have at least one soda every few days, but she couldn't even drink one bottle of coke; it was just too sweet for her to drink. So she started drinking coffee instead, first with some milk and sugar, but nowadays she drinks it with very little milk and sugar, almost black.

This, there are a couple family owned bakeries/cafes i go to, homemade desserts, bit pricey but worth it, the shit you see in bakery cafe chains i'd never touch.

I've never seen any evidence of this. In fact, I see evidence of sugar being protective in old age all the time. I looked at lists of the world's oldest people. They very often eat sweet things, chocolate, and fruits. Pure sugar would become unhealthy fast, because it lacks vitamins, minerals, and secondary nutrients, but in the real world everyone with normal instincts tries to eat sweets in combination with other nutrition. Ice cream is traditionally a combination of dairy, sugar, and egg yolks at a minimum for example. However, there is a widespread meme of sweetened food being fattening but an investigation of sweet junk foods or just junk foods in general frequently reveals them to be high in fat or often more specifically polyunsaturated fat. The reality is that fat, ugly people are nearly always eating high fat diets and failing that they tend to be deficient in important vitamins and minerals.

Eating enough carbohydrates can help the body produce its own fats, which is what you want to maintain health and beauty. You see, the association between fat and ugliness is universally acknowledged, but when this association is in the spotlight, it is forgotten that there is such a thing as protective fat layers and even pleasant fat that is a measure of beauty. Yes, fat is beautiful when it holds pleasant form and moderate size. Think of perky, young tits and a shaply, petite, toned ass. Boobs are composed of a lot of fat naturally, and while certain ugly breasts and asses can be said to have too much fat, they can also be said to lack form. What's the problem? Different kinds of fats promote different forms. Polyunsaturated fats tend to promote the uglier forms, while allowing the body to produce the fat it needs and wants at a given moment from carbohydrates helps it stay in control of the form that is being grown over time. This allowing the body to do what it will causes growth and development to be more in tune with nature and ideal form. (Just to be clear, the carbs themselves don't promote feminine fat deposits on a man. Hormones dictate if excess carbs will be used in that fashion, but at the least I would expect a most male hormone ratios to prevent a gaunt, concentration camp appearance.)

Old people eat whatever the fuck they want because they're gonna die soon regardless you moron. My grandfather is 96 and he smokes cigars, eats whatever he wants, and has a root beer float literally every day because he doesn't give a shit anymore and he's just hanging out watching TV and waiting for the day he doesn't wake up.

If you read about 100-year-olds saying how they did some unhealthy shit every day of their life and it helped them live this long, they trolled you because they're bored by their continued existence and their only entertainment is fucking with younguns.

I corroborate those findings with experimental research. Studies exist which shine a positive light on sucrose and fructose. You don't hear about them or the theories associated with them much because a lot of the research on sugars starts with a biased perspective that seeks to only find how things can go wrong, but it doesn't take complicated or warped reasoning to see how sugar can make things better. It starts out rather straightforward: if sugar is an energy source, then it shouldn't be surprising when it is seen to help situations that pertain to a lack of energy or its restricted flow. Aging has a lot to do with restricted energy. Restoring energy is a necessary step to restoring or maintaining youth. It shouldn't be surprising when those who live past 110 years are open to engaging with unorthodox methods to sustain energy levels. A fast metabolic rate is in general associated with a long lifespan for an animal of a given size such as bats vs rats and mice.

I just want to emphasize sugar and carbohydrates in general are a small part of a larger whole though. Pure sugar uses up vitamins and minerals quickly. Chocolate is a common theme in those who live past 110. Turns out that chocolate can be a decent source of magnesium and some other minerals such as copper along with some stimulants such as caffeine that promote the utilization of carbs.

This guy gave it a try with his wife. Apparently they got cranky for a while but ended up losing some weight, stopped craving junk food, and everything started tasting sweeter.

This is the nature of image boards online communication all communication eventually. Nothing can be maintained to one's satisfaction in the long run; not realizing this creates stress and suffering, so one becomes helpless in the rebirth process.

Programmers/AI researchers have been caught before copying threads with various time delays, and using the different comments to train their AIs (or chatbots) on. You'll notice sometimes in copycat threads you'll get replies that are technically on topic but somehow miss the point of the conversation in a subtle manner. That's what they're trying to improve.
