How strong are untrained, average adult males? Let's exclude hungry skeletons and take 5x5 for the example. My guess it's around 50 kg bench press with 80 kg snatch deadlift.

From where? Age and health have a lot to do with it. Sedentary office workers probably wont be as strong as lumberjacks. Look at height/weight averages for nations and base it off that.

>Sedentary office workers probably wont be as strong as lumberjacks.

I'd argue that the latter are way further from the average than the former, if we are talking about occupation. IMO a good pick for an average profession would be something like a stock clerk.

The problem of using 5x5 is that untrained people are pulling the last sets with any significant weight. On top of that, deadlifts will fry a complete noob's CNS. I'd guess 30kg and 40kg.

It depends on the economy of the nation. Nations with a high degree of urbanization are probably weaker, than modern, but agricultural nations. Truly poor nations are probably weaker due to poor nutrition and healthcare, even if they get more exercise.

Depends on the intelligence of nation. Muscle mass = More intelligence.

Pre /fit/ I had a job hauling stuff around a fair bit so I started with a 100kg DL, bench sounds about right, maybe lower cos some 'men' have zero chest.

Untrained urban males are weak as shit in my experience. 50kg bench? No way. 40… maybe. These dudes are *weak*.

Office job, American diet, sedentary lifestyle - any one of those things makes strength a challenge and most have all three.

>How strong are untrained, average adult males?

The average person "should" be able to bench 1pl8 as a basic right of passage. In reality the average person can hardly press the bar over there chest with 20 extra pounds. With or without being a skeleton the average male is astoundingly weaker than they used to be.

I took a fat fuck who has never done any exercise in his life to the gym and he could bench 90lbs for reps. I made him DL 1plate just to prove to him that he could, he didn't want to go higher. Unfortunately I couldn't get him to come back to the gym after that one day.

That's what happens when you are a retard about it. Noobs start by doing noob things. I know tons of skeletons who were dragged to the gym had had someone suddenly throw 50kg in their hands.

They never went back. You don't start by doing PRs on the first day. Why don't you people ever do things gradually ?

Depends on what they do in their daily life. If they have a laborious job then they might be still be decently fit.

If I took myself as an example, chubby cunt, sits in chair all day never fucking moves, I could do 60kg bench, ~80kg deadlift and squat 60kg. Squats were difficult as fuck though, which still confuses me. Normally squats are your biggest lift, right?

>>142571

"Go big or go home brah"

I agree though. You need to ease people into it. Especially if they go in with the mindset of not wanting to be there.

If you aren't impressed and excited with yourself by benching 90lbs when you've never lifted anything heavier than a Big Mac in your life, and you end the day with no desire to develop that strength further, you were always a lost cause.

bd026a  No.142616

I disagree. It's all a matter of the state of mind you're in and the reason for wanting to lift. There's a nuance to it. If they go in with the mindset of not really wanting to be there or seeing it as a chore then they won't fully appreciate or even really think about what it is they're doing.

Making it to 100kg on deadlift for the first time felt like fucking magic for me because I enjoyed the buildup to it too, but if you don't have the enthusiasm going in then you won't appreciate your own work. That's why I think it's best to let people come to you voluntarily for help and only then push them once they know what "help" entails.

How did you get the guy to come with you in the first place?

He was bitching about being fat at work so I told him I'd pay the guest charge if he came and worked out with me to try it out. He'd never seen a gym. So we did like 15 minutes of cardio (for me to warm up, I didn't push him he just did whatever) and then I went on to my routine and explained what/how I was doing as I was doing it, then when I finished my set of whichever lift, I'd let him try it at a weight at/near where I started at. I actually had him bench just the bar and then he went "oh this is easy" and so I put larger weights on until he actually seemed to have difficulty.

It's cool that you want to help other people change their lives, but being /fit/is not for everyone, because not everyone understands that you have to work hard for a god like body. But you shouldn't just take a random fat fuck from the street and expect him to do a perfect bench or squat or whatever. The same as with a girl. Take things slowly, step by step, before you ram it in her.

First couple of months should be spent building and strengthening main tendons, joints and getting used to loads of different kinds of motions, so his body gets used to all the weights later.

tbh that's not a bad idea ngl, you gotta do a lot of work to squat down directly over the drain, plus wafflestompings been proven to produce mad sick gains bro. I usually make sure to always shit in my shower instead of the toilet so I can keep up my natty akarish physique, downside is that sometimes I gotta clear the drain with a plunger once it gets too backed up every few weeks. But that just means my arms get more work in so I'm still winning. What about you bros, why haven't you tried this out, too much of a soyboy to be able to handle the workout?
