Quick question but it definitely needs enough attention to warrant it's own thread:

Does the body take in nutrients quicker before or after a workout.

Before you can argue that it gets used while doing exercise but for after you can argue the body is hungry and will digest food quicker. Does it not matter or is there a time to eat better than the rest of the day.

Train fasted. You will burn more body fat that way. When you eat it the calories go like this:

>food in stomach

>break down into simpler shit

>goes into bloodstream

>blood nutrients fuel what you're doing

>if there's extra shit in the blood, store it or excrete it

>if there's not enough shit in the blood, tap into storage

By eating first you ensure you will burn minimal body fat. If you exert yourself fasted you skip right to the last step. And once you're done your body starts to recover so the part about fueling what you're doing goes to building up your body moreso than resting metabolism, and there's also less excess calories that will be stored as fat.

While there are protein windows, they're more like garage doors. After a workout, you'll start repairing your muscles, and they will continue to repair for approx 72 hours assume you're not on PEDs.

Make sure you're reaching your daily protein goals, calorie count, and getting enough sleep during this period. That's basically it.

You're not going to unlock a secret 30 second window where your body is at maximum efficiency. Nutrition is measured in weeks, not hours.

Does the energy get used up the same way if I do cardio?

To clarify something I should have before hand, I eat for the whole body as much as I do just for muscles.

It depend on you goal

Training fasted will help greatly, do it.

Training fasted is agnostic, you will grow a little slower since you can't do as much weight. I'd say do it unless you feel really crappy with no energy and have shit workouts.

Eat a moderate meal with carbs and protein ~1-2h before your workout.

Cardio will basically increase your metabolism in general. Recovering from cardio will mean less gains in the immediate short term sense, but being in better shape from cardio means you will have more efficient cellular metabolism and cardiovascular health, which is good for building muscle and not dying in a sauna of a heart attack.

You shouldn't wait 72 hours between training sessions most of the time, so no. It's easiest to do cardio on your rest days to put distance between cardio and lifting.

This is all true, but I will add that cardio should always be done fasted to burn as much fat as possible, as the boost from carbs is irrelevant to doing cardio. Only bother with the carbs if you're going to run a race or something as opposed to regular cardio for cardiovascular health.
