Diet is a huge part of loosing weight.
Then ten minutes a day stuff is bogus if you want to lose weight you have to do long and easy work outs like slow one hour runs or long bike rides.
Using weight builds muscle and will ADD weight instead of losing it.
First start with you diet, cut out excess sugar and unneeded junk food and try and bring calories in through better food sources.
You can also track how much you consume in calories a day vs. how much you burn. In order to lose weight you have to burn more calories a day that. You eat.
Here's a pic of some of my calorie counts, my intake and burn is higher than. Average but that's because I'm a competitive skier, you should have something similar just smaller numbers.
You can also log how much work out you to perday than you can see how many hours per week and per month, then if you ever get a coach or a trainer they can use that to give you an appropriate training plan
Hope this helped
