I would be happy to look like you. I started lifting in July. I got tired of feeling unattractive to women.
The first pic is from August, and the second is recent. I don’t see much difference, although I did gain 10 pounds. I still feel unattractive to women.
I was 135 and 5’11” and now I’m 145. About a month ago I started protein shakes.
I don’t belong to a Gym. I started with 20 dumbbells, doing curls, loaded carries, and push ups. I’m at 35 pounds, but moving up to 40.
I do run and jump rope on opposite days of lifting, which probably doesn’t help. I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. It’s extremely common. The meds are the most commonly prescribed meds in the US. My immune system started attacking my thyroid after a viral infection, and didn’t stop even though the virus went away.
It’s the type of thyroid problem that causes weight gain. I gained 30 pounds when I was got sick, and lost it all once I started the meds.
One reason I run, besides enjoying it, is I’m afraid of getting diabetes. My glucose has been just above normal for several years. I’ve only started testing around the time I got hashimotos. My doctor suspects it’s related to that because eat healthfully and have exercised regularly for the past 10 years.
Maybe I’m being foolish, but I’m scared if I stop running the glucose will rise.
My goal isn’t to look like a body builder, but just appear more attractive and not sickly.
Pics are before and after.
