Did this happen because she approached you? That's the only situation I can see this happening if you're socially awkward as fuck and lose weight from being fat to getting normal.
Just saying because there was a bunch of guys at my high school who started lifting and got pretty big but they were still just discussing playstation games and keeping to themselves. Getting in shape will only work when your form is the -single- obstacle between you and the girl.
Related: I just saw in the news that only 30% of swedes are normal weight, the rest are overweight or obese. They still consider this relatively good because they compare to the US. It made me realize just how bad it is… I used ot think the fat people I see during the day are some kind of exception, because I hardly knew any fat people growing up. My ideals were kind of different from other people I suppose, I got a lot of criticism for watching american gladiators, most people were against exercise, but at least they weren't pro fat.
If this goes on, I can see how being thin may really be the reason someone would pick you over other guys, because the normal weight part of the population is getting narrower by the day. Then the /fit/ solution may actually work.
