Favourite active screenwriters..I don't think I can name anyone. Are there any good screenwriters working today?
Cliches I dislike…dream sequences, murder plots, films about suicide, using the "parent just died" backstory to create some sort of emotional connection to the protagonist, children who are smarter than they should be, meta-writing i.e. a screenplay about a failed writer/artist, the "you think the character is dead but he's actually alive" third act plot gimmick..lots of others but I don't want to go on and on.
