Hey guys, how do you balance your cinephile lifestyle with everything else? I have a full time job, a great wife and work out a lot. The movies I want to watch are completely different than what my wife watches (but she did like Beyond the Black Rainbow).

Do you have a dedicated theater room? Watch on your phone/laptop while en transit to work? Single and watch whenever? Do you prefer early morning, midday or late night? What about the weather outside?

It's very difficult for me to sit still for 3 hours to watch The Bridge on the River Kwai unless I have the house to myself.

>pic unrelated but awesome

I typically watch something for about an hour at night. It's rare that I can go from start to finish in one sitting because I usually don't have time (and sometimes I get restless). So it takes a couple days to finish one film.

I don't enjoy watching when it's light outside and try to avoid watching on a laptop if possible.

Im an underachieving student so I get enough free time. Live by myself, do have a girlfriend. Not a cinephile but she watches along with whatever.
I basically only watch series on my tablet when traveling. Won't bother with movies because I really hate to divide my movies into pieces.
Preferrably I watch movies at night but I end up watching a lot during the days as well but I pick em for it. I also like rainy weather when watching my movies, but again, ill pick em for it. During the summer I watch a lot less because I do have a social life but I tend to watch more movies set in the summer.

Watching anything on a screen smaller than my tv is difficult. I'm also the same with the light. I'm not a wizard neckbeard so anytime it's a nice day outside, I won't be inside the house.

Nice. I wonder if my subconscious makes me want to watch summer time movies in the winter. I do remember binging on Bruce Brown documentaries on January though lol.

Are you a film major?

I watch 1080p rips from a thumb drive once or twice a week. Really I can't tell the difference between a 720 and 1080 rip as long as the bitrate isn't too low.

I have a bunch of DVDs too but they dont' work very well anymore – my old player doesn't have an hdmi cable.

What's blu-ray definition? Is it close to 2k?

yeah, it's 1920x1080 so it's pretty close to 2k i think. i'm not sure why each specification developed separately to create a small resolution difference, but it's there.
