I'm not all that bothered by it.
Most folks who self-identify with the BDSM scene to the point where they'd fill out a survey about it are chubby or fat, old, have no sense of self-preservation or efficiency, and are in every other way just gross people. Whether you're a female dom or a male sub, if you know how to take care of yourself you're going to have trouble finding a partner who does the same.

They're not rare in the sense that diamonds are rare. Every time you walk down to the store you probably pass by ten girls with submission fantasies and one or two with domination fantasies. If you were going to ask any one girl on the street to pound you up the butt with a strap-on then the odds would factor in more prominently, but luckily we humans employ a selective process to help determine fuck compatibility and if you have any sense of it then you're going to be just fine.
The number one most important thing is to get yourself out there. I'm not saying make a Fetlife page and start regularly attending sex dungeons when trying to find love, just make close friendships with a wide and diverse group of people and things will come along.
