But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock. Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me. Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance. Job chapter 30, over two thousand years old. I've read it over and over for no religious or philosophical reason, I just love it. Yes depressed hopeless people who give up and check out have been around since the dawn of civilization. I'm sure there's one somewhere in Gilgamesh.
