Nah. Having kids doesn't make anyone happy, but that's not the point. The point is that they're supposed to function as the nexus around which the 40-hour work week and all the drudgery and suffering of life revolve. The slavery we sign ourselves up to becomes justified and our daily depletion of energy becomes a kind of noble self-sacrifice. Ultimately, we're all hurtling towards our deaths at breakneck speed the moment we're put to work, but children make it a purposeful sort of dying. We don't know any better. Modernity encourages this. The selfless man however is the healthy adult version of a human being. Not going to claim otherwise, but it can still be done and if it's done right what's more meaningful than creating life? This is where you guys who think being successful is for buying yourself shit get it wrong. You get successful so you can get to a station in life where you can provide for that ideal family. That doesn't really sound good to us does it? today I went to embassy to pick up my passport.

There I met this family. Mother father and daughter (maybe 7 or 8 years).

It was very heartwarming to see them. The parents gave the girl kisses and the girl would kiss her parents back. She would also get cuddly and constantly tell her parents how she loves them.

And they reply that they love her too. Her father took her in his arms and she embraced his hugs. It was just beautiful to see this.

I wonder if I would have ended up in a better position if my parents also had shown me this type of affection. I cannot remember that they were ever this warm to me. I once also noticed a mother with her child in the train and had similar thoughts. She was so heartly to her daughter.

If you don't mind having A LOT of responsibility to take care of them, they can be great. But expect a much larger burden on your shoulders …. and if you spoil them as children, that burden could seriously backfire in the future. The goal to having children is to raise them to become successful, independent, strong and to inevitably procreate, offering you grandkids someday. IF spoiled, and IF not properly raised, you might not get that result, you might end up with what a lot of "boomers" now call "manchilds" that would become reliant on you even into their adulthood. Point is this: encourage them exercise, encourage them to date as they get older, encourage them to become independent and to drive when they become 16, encourage them to eat right, encourage them to socialize with kids their age (OFFLINE!), encourage them to get outside and get some sunlight, encourage them to work hard, do NOT encourage them into college (have them attend a trade school instead).

Reason I say this is because I am one of those "boomers" and I know all too well from personal relations what happens to kids born around the last two decades and its not very pleasant for many parents today. Luckily I raised a daughter back in the 80s to early 90s and she turned out OK, now has a family. I have heard many cases where children today get addicted to drugs or video games/social media and their lives just decline from there, and they end up useless leaches until the parents get fed up and throw them out by the time their 30 years old. Don't let that happen if you have kids!
