I've always liked the peace and quiet, and the wilderness can feel like a refuge sometimes. Every time I get back from a trip, it's like climbing back into a hamster wheel.

On the flip side, when I'm out there it's just me and my thoughts, which can be unpleasant sometimes.

Have any of you tried it? If you do, don't fall for the gear meme. You can put a decent kit together on a shoestring budget, if you know where to look.

I wish my country had an innawoods deeper than the weed plants squeezed in the undergrowth between highway and drainage ditch.

I used to when I was younger. I don't have mountains too close now but as soon as I will get drivers license I will be going regularly again. I have very close few smaller rivers though and it's area where nearest houses are kilometers away so I might go fishing in summer for weekend or so. Don't know if that counts.

Unfortunately for me, all the nice scenery is at least a 5 hour drive away. 10 hours if I want to see the real nice stuff. It's fucking bullshit.

As I have become increasingly blackpilled I have spent more and more time innawoods

I am fortunate that I am in the position to have acres and acres (hectares and hectares) of dense forest in which I am allowed to live.

Occasionally I have spent several days at a time just living in the woods, harvesting game, hiking, and fishing. I even have myself a neat little spot in a small cave-let where I can sleep free from precipitation

>on the flip side, when I'm out there it's just me and my thoughts, which can be unpleasant sometimes.

That is the only downside that I have encountered.

Being out there, just you, your thoughts, and a few guns

Not always the best combination.

I live in Canada's boreal forest. There's a lot of open farmland following the major rivers, but beyond that is some thick bush and muskeg (swamp). Its criss crossed by all kinds of survey cutlines that you can drive down. The mosquitoes are a major nuisance once they spawn in, otherwise its nice here. I enjoy learning which plants can be used medicinally, like Yarrow, which can be used as an insect repellant and coagulant. All kinds of shit to eat during the spring. I prefer to hunt and fish alone, but I sometimes wish I had someone to take the canoe down river with. Maybe make a week out of it, camp river side somewhere different every night. Portaging is aids by yourself.

Everyone I know uses social media and watches LGBT shit on Netflix. I wish I knew people like Alexander Supertramp.

Yes, i loved doing this when i lived two kilometers from mountains. Now i can't do it anymore cause i'm stuck in the po valley and i don't have enough money for a car to do 40 kilometers to see an inch of woodland. And i really don't mind when i'm alone with my thoughts.

If not proxy, Italy has really nice nature, doesn't it? Especially EUtruckers love to go through Italy because of the mountains down south to shores.

Would love to do that once as austria has lots of woods to live inna.

Unfortunately they're heavily regulated and im too paranoid to get caught by a deer cam, forestry police or get eaten by a bear.

Penalty for camping or even starting a fire is very high
