All Abrahamic religions are mere tools to give the control of the many into the hands of the few. It's all basic mass population control by hiding laws of control inside tales of morality and offering empty promises in return for compliance. It is based on the three natural traits superstition, faith and morality. Superstition naturally is followed by curiosity, which means acquiring knowledge, and by creating the concept of a deity you stop the knowledge at the superstitious level aka "you have to believe, don't look deeper". Next comes faith, with means symbolism, which means idolatry, which aims at the urge to put your hopes into false idols. It's a natural self defense mechanism to seek protection from leadership positions. Lastly, morality. The law of the land. This should normally be the laws of nature, but humans made up their laws to control each other, thereby defiling nature in pursuit of hedonism.
If this is all too much for you, then here comes the easy version to explain mass control…
-Ownership: a guy has an apple, another wants it. Violence happens.
-Hierarchy: I demand you to give me the apple, because I'm in charge. Violence happens.
-Laws: The law says you have to give me the apple. Violence happens.
-Law enforcement : Give me the apple by law or he's gonna kick your ass. Violence happens.
At this stage the violent response was slowly manipulated into less efficiency, by creating lies and threats. Then the question came up "how do we make them give up their apples without violence?" - "We have to make them believe"
-Religion: It is written that you hand over the apple to me, so that god will give you access to the paradise. Having apples is a sin, and you must become a better man by studying endless tales of morality, while hoping for the best. And don't forget to give me all your apples.
