The prevalent culture is refusing to expose oneself or appear committed, it's the reflection of apathy culture. Consider what indie games have become the most popular:

>VN parody that is 'secretly fucked up'

>RPG that is 'secretly a genre critique'

>Dating sim/general simulator parodies

People enjoy these genres, but don't to admit it/be seen enjoying them, so they play 'ironic' games instead. Nobody wants to admit they like something, people decide not to create/say things because they feel like it's edgy. Yeah, it probably is edgy, but it's better to be genuine and say edgy stuff instead of hiding behind memes and making everything a joke. Some stuff we just have to laugh about, but you're not really communicating with anyone doing that. It's a cocoon, the true function of modern technology, total insulation from outside threats managed through social media. Despite the marketing around it, it's the opposite of self expression.

Come on, brazilanon, that's not an insult that works. But to go off of that point, it's not just a white thing, it's something people with a 'liberal mindset' have, sometimes lolberg conservatives. I don't understand why people follow such beliefs, except to just appear like a fence-sitting neutral fag, 'tolerant of others,' or just lacking personally in moral conviction.

It's a "post-ethics" age. Whatever gets you the most clout is what you go with. Take Sony's censorship policies: underaged lesbians are fine if it's The Last of us 2, but if it's 2D anime girls? Banned. Sub-80 IQ people want to see tits in GTA 5, that's fine, but in Devil May Cry 5? That needs to be censored. The popularity from having nudity in GTA outweighs the potential backlash, whereas the aren't as willing or able to take a PR loss on a niche game making <100K sales. It's not about the morals of censoring this or that, it's just PR and economics. And the people who pretend to care about it are even worse. "Battlefield 5 has women? Wow, EA sucks, I'm playing Call of Duty instead. Wait, Apex Legends is popular now? Nevermind, EA is great!" People don't create a moral code, then like things based on their moral code. They just find things they prefer or things that benefit them and apply morals accordingly.

In other words, nobody tweeted "Trans rights" until it was guaranteed to get them likes and retweets.

As for lolbergs, there's a big gap between philosophical anarchists who are in the ideological trenches writing books on the practical application of anarchy and centrists who are essentially as described above. They believe they retain the most popularity/social clout by not rocking the boat, so they do that. They only speak out against something when they sense that they will gain from it but otherwise fear taking a side will result in a net loss of social capital. It's the same motive as any "liberal" corporation, just with different "moral accountants" doing the math.

Most of things are in fact subjective opinions - with exception of general truths - but they do mistake of respecting one another. Fuck that, I want to argue about my subjective opinions, there is great fun in doing that. There is nothing better than having arch nemesis, being after each other throats every time you meet, just because he likes his gintonic mixed together differently. Very weird to me is that even so-called libertarians do this mistake. They are the ones who love to argue with everyone, yet they start their response with "I respect your opinion but…". No, you are idiot and your opinion is retarded, you are low scum for thinking this. And if he responds in same manner on your opinion, you know you have a good friend because from that moment you are on the same level. If he starts backing off and trying to pretend politeness, as if he thinks he is better than me just because he can hold back his own opinion and emotions, I can never respect him.

Interesting points, although i hate people that refer to skin color as a derogatory/glorification. Even if it is ironically. It's such a primitive mindset; "Oh, this group has different characteristics than i do, those might as well be the reason to their degeneration, not just a coincidence/correlation." It's pretty retarded, and it goes against the sense superiority you were advocating for. Don't be like the subhumans, rise above.

That's something I agree with, and will admit I am sometimes susceptible to it. People don't actually hold these moral beliefs when they state them most of the time. If it's not indifference, it's trying to fit into the crowd. Most people just want to try as hard as they can to not stick out and appear as an outsider, this is why they do such things. I feel like, in examples of EA's game like Apex Legends, I cannot get through to people about why it's shit or the same thing as fortnite, or ignore how bad the company it is for the industry. It makes me wonder why I even try to explain to them why it's wrong to play this game or buy their products, their lack of individuality and wanting to follow trends will disregard my warnings.

>I'm susceptible to it

Oh I'm absolutely susceptible to it myself, it's only recently that I have tried to actively dissuade myself from it. It's because it's a huge ego trip. Let's say a game comes out, and it doesn't interest you at all, like a FIFA game. You could say:

>I'm not interested, sports games aren't really my thing

Or, you could say:

>FIFA is a corrupt organization that causes the enslavement of migrant workers, and the games are full of microtransactions that actively make video games worse as a medium.

Meaning no offense to you, but most people who say the latter don't really believe that. I used to rail against microtransactions then turn around and play FFXIV where they charge you $10 to change your character's appearance after you make it. I didn't really care about microtransactions as a concept, not on some moral level. But I get to look like righteous and sit on a high horse by pretending I do. massive ego trip.

I use games as an example a lot but it's mainly because I don't really play them anymore, I'll go months without booting up my PC now, so it's a medium I don't really have strong feelings/biases towards anymore. Which is why I started noticing this kind of behavior in other people, and then in myself. Now, whenever I don't like something and start conjuring up convoluted reasons like all that, I kind of tell myself "Just say you're not interested, anon, you know it's not a big deal, in the end." And I don't consider to be nihilism or apathy, it's more like just not caring about things that don't matter.

Somewhere along the way, it seems most people forgot that it's entirely possible to view another's opinions and character as two separate entities. There is no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, I can respect someone as a human being while also believing wholeheartedly that their opinion is uneducated garbage suitable only for the trash compactor. If both participants in the conversation have two brain cells to rub together and a single drop of maturity, it should go without saying that the act of disputing a belief is not inherently disparaging the belief-holder. Unfortunately, the aforementioned qualities are just too fucking much to ask of daypeople, and neither their (nonexistent) moral composition or opinions warrant respect. Needlessly picking arguments can make day to day living difficult by causing friction in a society with decreasing levels of socially tolerable free expression, but it's still not necessary to agree with coworkers who present braindead "beliefs" and thereby feed into the problem. I tend to practice intentional silence, verbal dodging, or directly telling them its not a matter I wish to discuss (since I'm too much of a sperg to compromise my beliefs when they keep pressing the issue).

Exactly, ridicule is a probably the best way of dealing with such complaints. Anything else would just be bolstering their sense of self-importance.
