I am in exactly the same situation. I want a male friend with benefits, but the "friend" part must come first. I'm not sure I want a full-scale romantic relationship, but at least some common interests and an ability to hold a conversation is just as important as all the sexytime stuff.

I installed Grindr out of curiosity, once I stopped repressing myself and admitted that I like dudes too. Two weeks, about 10 meetings-for-coffee in public places with different guys. Not one was a decent functioning human being. Two were looking for sugar daddies, six were clearly cheating on their wives, and two were probably single but clearly just looking for me to take them home right then and there without any conversation at all. Account deleted, uninstalled, done with that.
