I recently read the comic version of Fahrenheit 451, which got me thinking about other books I'd like to see adapted.

Lord of Light (which if you don't know is a sci-fi novel that uses Hinduism as the basis for it's universe) had concept art for a failed film adaptation back in the 70's, commissioned by Jack Kirby. I think it would be amazing to see this done as a full comic or animated movie.

>failed film adaptation back in the 70's

There was never a film. That was a cover used to get American embassy employees safely out of Iran.

The film Argo is all about it.

Officially at least, the film was to be real, but

Kirby's art made use of as a part of the operation after it fell through.

I would love to see adaptations of Lem's books. Many Slav language editions come with illustrations, but it would be interested to see what western artists could do with them. Kirby or Ditko would probably be the most interesting ones to see tackle them.

My personal dream project would be adapting Lem's Pilot Pirx stories.

Dune would also be an obvious one. Anything with distinct, unique imagery tends to be a good choice.

Monster Hunter International. A lot of the characters would be hard or impossible to do in live action with any reasonable CGI budget today. Just the main recurring cast has the king of the werewolves, Frankenstein's Monster, a giant Polynesian man with a full auto shotgun (pic related) and attractive women.

There's also the matter of some of the guns used. The main character's signature gun is based on something that can no longer be imported into the US, and you've got shit like French former monster hunters turned vampires with FAMAS. The author's specific and correct use of firearms presents major difficulty for an armorers.

I was just thinking to myself you could make some really good animated movies from classic gothic horror stories. Maybe Dracula done with the feel of one of the darker 90's animated features like Anastasia or Prince of Egypt.
