 No.982934

>>982926

That's my particular flavor of edit. I'm thinking of doing more, a sort of Questionable Meta-Content spinoff. Think of each edit as being what happens to the actor/characters after Jeph's strip finishes, a behind the scenes thing.

 No.982985

Random-access humor.

 No.982999

I like the idea. Reminds me of the intro to The Truman Show with the snippets of interviews.

 No.983080

>>982999

I have something of a meta-Canon I'm working on, setting up a disparity between in-character and out of character behavior, for humor's sake.

Most QC characters are aware of how shitty Jeph's writing is, they play the role of tortured TV stars, reacting to the comic in different ways. I have most of the cast's OOC personalities worked out, but as most of my "jokes" revolve around their disparity from Jeph's canon I can't reveal more than what I've already done.

>If a robot has ever displayed a feat of being more superhuman in the comic, it's more likely that this is typical of AIs. AIs have typically human-like personalities, and a benevolent Singularity is canon, because I like that at least, but robots otherwise behave much like humans.

>The only reason the entire cast hasn't revolted entirely is because of Pizza Girl, who's the backstage worker, only gets screen time when Jeph needs LolRandumb, and the absolute sweetest girl on set. She's the glue that holds the cast together. She's the most patient because she's dealt with Jeph the least, and she's always around, just off-stage, to help everyone else.

>The Coffee of Doom is fairly non-profitable, but it is Dora's passion project in life, which is why she let Jeph use it as the main location for QC since the beginning. She's mainly sticking around to keep it funded, and would have left a long time ago otherwise.

In Berserk, Griffith has sex with someone and gets locked away, with the viewer only glimpsing enough bits of his torment to know that he is still alive and still being tortured.

In QC, Marten has sex with someone and gets sidelined, with the viewer only glimpsing enough bits of his relationship to know that he is still alive and still in that relationship.

In Berserk, the Behelit is a minor item that Griffith knows to possess great power, but goes unused until the moment he is freed from captivity.

In QC, Pintsize is a minor character that Marten knows possesses great power, but has gone unused thus far.

Mark my words, as soon as Marten is freed from Claire's influence, he will use Pintsize to Eclipse the rest of the cast.

Actually, I should clarify on the whole Pizza Girl/Penelope thing, as Stabby has stated he never will.

Pizza Girl(who will be named once I have a good name for her) has been with the QC group since the beginning. Penelope is her twin sister and Theater College dropout who got brought on as Penelope in a series of events that basically amount to your average episode of 30 Rock.

Any given time Penelope is on scene, I'll alter the dialogue between the two, so you folks can Olson Twins it and try and guess who's currently on screen. Any time its Pizza Girl though it's always the first twin, never Penelope.

And that's about as complicated as I hope to get with Questionable Meta-Content.

Actually, Jeph zoomed in on the last panel.

If you look closely, the window and the picture are at exactly the same height as the previous panel, but larger, showing there is indeed a zoom effect.

However, everything else is only "lower" for some strange reason. The couch is lower, the dude whose name nobody remembers is lower, the furniture is lower, even the ukulele is lower (you can barely see a bit of it).

So Jeph, for some godforsaken reason, wanted to "diversify" his panels' appearances by zooming it (barely, then took almost everything and just dropped it a few millimeters lower.

Except Melon

except the fucking robot

she is actually even higher and taller all of a sudden

As a friend mentioned, it's possible he wanted to straighten her up, making her, in consequence, higher, but failed to make it look proper, so he just used this worthless, completely useless trick as zooming then lowering most of the panel, and then called it a day.

Fucking up just a tiny bit, just ever so slightly, every goddamn thing in the panel.

This is what baffles me with Jeph. He's been at it for, what, twelve years ? We know he hates it, we know he's terribly untalented, so why does he bother ? He'd get a lot more credit going the "I seriously don't give a shit" way, but he keeps trying to pretend he cares by using these mindless, dumb little methods, that makes most people only react with a subconscious "there's something weird" sense. You know, the kind you can't really place the origin of but you know, you know there's something that shouldn't be how it is. And then you realize : a hand is the wrong color, a frame goes off-panel, a character is suddenly slimmer or doesn't have the right eye color… whatever it is, you don't see it right away, but you brain calculates it immediately.

Why not just accept you suck and leave it at that, jeph, for fuck's sake

also she is literally a fucking robot jeph you goddamn cocksucker her entire mind is absolutely nothing but numbers if those were abstract concepts she'd just be magic you cunt not a robot

She's on the trailing end of the collapse of her lifestyle. When a thot gets older, she either has to trick a provider into marrying her or double down hard. Since she's not married, the assumption is that she's actively doubling down by being an easy lay who will do anything. We know that she has multiple college age partners, and at least one of them regularly comes over to fuck her in the middle of the night without preamble.

I think the scenario is this: she was a slut in highschool that fell in love with her boyfriend and got pregnant when they went to college together. She had to put her thottery on hold while her sons were growing up, but the stress of raising twins and managing school and work put a strain on their relationship. Her boyfriend realizes that a mother of twins is less than desirable to be hooked up with when he's in the prime of his party life hookup years, so he dumps her and vanishes. She has to raise them on her own, and is super supportive of Clairence injecting female hormones to control his horsecock.

One time, she was at a grocery store or something when she got hit on by a frat boy who is into older women. She responded positively, brought him back to her house, and let him remind her why she enthusiastically hopped on the cock carousel to begin with. They hook up a bunch of times over the next few weeks, and then he asks if one of his friends can come over for a three way. She hesitantly agrees, because she's still riding that "back in the saddle" high. They come over, spitroast her, and agree to do it again some time. This goes on for a while, until the friend comes over on his own. Now two guys are coming over on their own or together, and then they introduce her to a third friend. And a fourth friend, and a fifth, sixth, seventh, etcetera until everyone in the fraternity has her phone number and she has become the frat bicycle. They keep this to themselves as a frat, and she becomes an institution. Nowadays, she's looking forward to the fall when new pledges arrive, because it means that she's going to get all that fresh virgin cock when they use her to lose their virginity as part of their initiation.

She has a problem, though. She's still getting older. As she hits 50, her sexual desirability is going do wane, and it will only get worse into her 60s and 70s. Eventually, she'll need more incentive to make these tight, muscular 20something hunks want to see her naked. The fact that Clinton didn't know his mom likes weed means that it probably only started when this frat thing started, so it's not unreasonable to think that she will drift into harder drugs and more extravagant sex acts. Best case scenario is that she does a lot of coke, dries up, becomes depressed when the frat boys stop calling her, and she dies of health complications in her 60s. Worst case is that she gets found in an alley covered in semen and needle marks after she ODs during a party. If she was morally bankrupt instead of just a slave to her desires, she might start using those hard drugs to hook pretty college/highschool girls and start pimping them out to her frat as a way to earn money and entice them into giving her that precious D.

Either way, sluts will eventually self destruct because of their inability to resist gratification, and they will likely hurt everyone around them in the process. Clinton's mom is at a tipping point age, and it looks like she's missed her chance to settle down with a gullible guy, so she's destined to either implode or waste away in her depression. It's not going to be pretty.

Cut to "10 minutes later" and chairs are flying, students have their hands round each others necks and one's shouting, "You illiterate cunt!" while Clarence sits in the middle, completely bemused.

Personally, I think that would make for a great scene, but there's no way in hell Jeph would touch that with a 20ft pole, as he'd have to show Clarence before he went mad and thought he was a girl.

>Number 1

What part of that exchange could be considered funny? I guess losing track of a customer's arm has humor potential, but Jeph is wishy-washy with the rules for AI, so the idea of a robot arm crawling away on its own can't be considered unusual from an audience perspective. It's just one more thing that weakens his narrative because he didn't think his one-off jokes through and consider any implications. Also, strapping handlebars and an engine block to a tiny piece of plastic just because a customer is naive makes Faye look stupid and implies the "totally successful" shop doesn't get enough customers to fill up her day.

>Number 2

The setup is way funnier than the joke. the penis of a 70 year old is not appreciably different than the penis of a 20 year old, so his punchline is confusing more than anything else. It would have been way funnier to have IPP continue to talk with her mouth full and structure a joke off of that.

Yeah, that's been an issue for the entire history of QC, that it is unclear whether jokes are supposed to be in-universe or not. Even Jeph doesn't know, which leads to selective retcons.

Oh no, that's not an issue; it's a feature.

Jeph tries to make a joke and has the cast react and effectively explain why it is a joke, just in case his moronic, emotionally unstable audience don't get it.

It's like his version of canned laughter.

 No.987104

>>987015

It could be a intentionally inserted control in the AIs psyche, integrated without their knowledge. The robots act human enough that they may have also had a desire to breed, and being sapience inside of easily obtained hardware would mean they would just build another iteration of AI. The fear might have been eventually these iterations might eventually vastly outstrip human populations making them the dominant life on the planet, or even worse would be one unfathomably intelligent, a Machine God. In order to curb this the desire to breed was redirected towards odd, yet relatively inoffensive items, effectively coming off as weird fetishes commonplace in robots. Bread being a common one either due to its harmlessness, avilability, humor, or just serendipity.

Or it could be that brown Faye got used as a Deus Ex by a drug addicted closet transvestite to explain a nonsensical joke in an attempt to get every ounce of humor out of something that wasn't funny go begin with. Hard to tell, its like 50/50 on which one it may be

And when even Jeph's fanbase notices the errors of a character knowing or doing things he shouldn't, Jeph will shove in a strip–totally from the buffer–retconning whatever error he just made.

Change it to Regards, your concerned audience, replace audience with whatever word sounds better (perhaps, readership?). If anyone has the picture documenting the first stabbing incident, you could use that for reference. Change to header to something vague and not stand-off-ish, like "Concerns toward the current state of Questionable Content" or "Inquiry regarding your web comic". "Fix" anything implies from the start that the author isn't perfect, and that shit's just not gunna fly with narcissists; especially not with narcissists that call themselves artists.

Honestly, though, I doubt he'd bother reading past the inbox header before marking the email for deletion; you need to bait him into putting in the effort to open the email and read at least part way, before going off on him and such. Well Jeph was feeding eagles bread two strips ago so he's clearly faking this field of knowledge, like he does with every other field of knowledge he pretends to know about, including artistry. That's why he buys $200 markers for doodling. An actual artist can run circles around Jeph with a Bic ballpoint pen. I don't think Jeph even knows how to shade without using a Photoshop plugin.

Something a bit better to prove the thriving business. A jug of Drano runs around 15 dollars on Amazon, which means that 24 ounces of it runs about $4.59, so the successful business owner just made 40 cents. Or possibly lost over four dollars if they just give the retard half the bottle, it's unclear how the business runs, because Jeph doesn't let things like planning or worldbuilding bog down the location he uses at least once a month.

 No.988235

I just figured out what purpose Melon serves. The character bothers me because she appears everywhere yet for no discernible reason. That is the purpose.

We know Jeph modifies his canonical storylines around audience reaction, but he can't build a buffer around this. Therefore he needs evergreen filler material. The problem with using regular characters is depending on when the filler is invoked, whatever particular characters may be otherwise engaged, appearing in different places and wearing different clothes. Worse yet, the filler may become obsolete, completely negating the point of it in the first place.

lolrandom characters work best for this sort of thing. We already have at least two: Pintsize and Emily. Having no continuous train of thought, these two work well enough but may be overexposed if relied upon too heavily. Melon gives a third option. Most importantly, Pintsize and Emily are rooted in place and need a decent explanation to appear somewhere unexpected. Melon needs no such explanation. Her entire character is to appear anywhere doing anything, which makes her the perfect filler fodder.

Jeph still needs to make several alternates–all involving Melon–so that he has flexibility when he needs to avoid otherwise currently engaged characters. If this prediction is correct, expect Melon strips to be very self-contained, e.g. only characters guaranteed to be at the location will be present. So no Marten or Clit at the coffee shop, nobody but Faye and/or Menstro at the repair shop.

I think 5.0 is correct.

Prime got replaced shortly after her introduction by 2.0, establishing her as a neurotic germaphobe who was stalking Marten because she loved him. 2.0 changed to 2.5, retaining all qualities except for her stalking and love, which got memory holed. 3.0 showed up some time after that, having reduced phobias and had her freak outs off screen. 4.0 was the coffee shop worker who said she was a germaphobe, but still took out the trash and handled money without comment. Tannelore here is 5.0, and is clearly just a well adjusted girl who larps as someone who doesn't like messes and dirty things, but isn't very good at it.

I also got the impression that she fucks that yak. Don't know if that's just me, but the way she puts her arm around it sets off bells in my head

It is simultaneously amusing and distressing to see the forum having no more creativity than Jeph. Apparently, just like Jeph, the audience really cannot think of anything to do with characters other than to get them together, leave them off screen, and eventually break them up. Here's an idea, from the top of my head.

Marten decides to finally go for it and tries to make something of the band. It doesn't go well along the way. Amir (the Paki) is unreliable, Hannelore isn't as committed when she returns, they're still missing a fourth member, and, most importantly, Marten himself doesn't make the grade, something he has real trouble owning up to. Still, he tries and in the middle, fortune smiles upon him and he is able to make a transition to a producer, talent scout, consultant, or similar based on the connections he's making.

Meanwhile Claire realizes that he's blocked at this small college library and wants to go somewhere with more advancement opportunities. He still feels like an intern, and there is a little friction being a peer or lower than Marten, given his education level. In Claire's head, his increased salary will more than make up for Marten's loss of employment and there is good chance of the same style of employment in the new location.

Unfortunately, Claire has not considered Marten does not want to be forcefully relocated and de-employed. Also, for the first time in Marten's life, it feels like he's getting somewhere. Claire still wants the new job, which is something like 45-60 minutes away. Additionally, Marten's new behind-the-scenes music career is demanding longer hours and is also pushing him away from home, but in other directions. Things come to a head and….???

It's cliche as hell, but a damn sight better than "get them together, break them up". I'm no writer, and this wasn't very hard. I didn't even break the cardinal sin of mentioning Claire is a tranny during all this.

Oh, no! That's like totally awkward! Right guise?!

Is Clarence's outing of his trannydom the only time when a relationship didn't start off with awkwardness? I suppose Jeph wouldn't dare make that one anything but a perfect acceptance. Christ you'd think it may even cause some resentment with Marten as he picks up a >girl in a heartbeat (fucking hell, I actually had to look up his name; it's been that long since he's even come to mind).

So yeah, cookie-cutter relationship "drama" ala Jeph.

Aside from that you'd think he'd show just a modicum of imagination with his robots; Menstro could have just set its hand to a high-frequency vibration to ease that shoulder. Surely that would do more to illicit one of his "hurgleburgle" responses?

Because you're not thinking with Pozz. Jeph isn't thinking about this as something to reveal or not, Jeph is thinking "She identifies as female. Why should it matter what genitalia she has?"

The whole point of not talking about it is to make in not matter. He never addresses it because in his opinion, Martin accept Clarence for who he is, so sex "just works."

Although, if we're talking realistically, Clarence's mother is single, a pothead, and he works as a librarian. No way they have enough money or insurance that will cover that kind of surgery.(yes, health insurance companies have started covering this sort of thing)

Clarence is probably on hormone therapy, giving him a micropenis, but also "real" tits.

Of course, this is Jeph we're talking about, so it's entirely possible for Clarence to start talking about the procedure like it's something he could've afforded.

So I guess the future is full of bigots who happily fund transition treatments and only want trannies to think they're getting beat up but never actually follow through.

 No.990122

Yes, but you're missing something important. Insurance companies foot most of the bill in their customer's stead, thus they make their greatest profit off healthy customers. This is also why many health insurance companies won't accept those with "pre-existing conditions", or will refuse to pay for certain medications, since doing so will usually end up as a net loss on their end. In the case of a tranny, the net cost of surgery (a short term solution) may be less than constant expensive therapist sessions and medication (the long term solution); and what with the relatively high likelihood of suicide, that drain on potential profits takes care of itself. The insurance provider that has it part of their policy to cover tranny surgery would look good in the eyes of the progressively naive-minded public, which would look competitively better than those that don't (boosting customer count), and the hit to profit margin would be minimalized.

I think. I could be wrong, but it kinda makes sense if that's the case.

What if they're living in fear precisely because no one seems to give a damn about the sort of damage they are doing to their minds and bodies and souls, and they are aware that something is wrong at least on an instinctual level. This is the progressive future where actually caring about someone is against societal norms, and judging someone by their behavior and actions is equivalent to acts of unspeakable evil.

So it's a pushing boundaries thing but the single mother never said "no". Poor young Clarence is begging for attention from a daddy who for all intents and purposes doesn't exist. What a plot twist this would be. Even with a "everything worked out in the end" message, imagine how pissed off the base would be.

>pre-existing conditions

Access to health care is a separate argument, but detractors are correct in saying this is not an insurance issue. It's like first wrecking your car and then trying to file a claim after the fact with the insurer you just acquired.

Another alternative is that small unintentional slights seem like huge insults because the progressive hole that Jeph has created is so insular, it's functionally identical to the mouse utopia, and what's being shown is the beginning of the collapse. I almost want to give Jeph credit for the misdirection of Marten humming, presumably at 440 Hz, and then Faye vibrating to the same frequency. Thing is, I'm not sure whether it was intentional. Marten could just be doing the cliched "minding my own business" Looney Toons thing and the setup was unintentional. That would be funny, too, if I was convinced Jeph had that level of self-awareness.

Why the fucking fuck would that lesbian lardberg want to talk to fucking Marten of all people, presumably about relationships?

And I wonder just how triggering this will be to Jeph's audience/masters - his former one-time MC responds to slight affection from Lesbot2000 by literally running to the other side of town.

Is Jeph suggesting that affection from an emotionally fragile friend, in dire need of closeness to recover from trauma, is so horrible it must be avoided?

Yea, the last time she had sex was when she was destroying Marten's pride and self confidence by jumping in bed with Sven immediately after she met him while simultaneously telling Marten that she wasn't ready for that sort of thing because of her dad.

It was the first time I had ever seen an author torpedo the flagship couple, and it shocked me. I remember being angry and confused for several days because I couldn't rationalize it. The author had to know that he was destroying his comic's core plot motivator and #1 point of interest while invalidating the huge twist that he just set up, but he did it anyway.

It's the reason I started hating this comic.

Jeph's been skirting around this lezbot romance bullshit for how long now? A year or more?

I think we're way past the point of anyone actually caring.

I'm sure some emotionally volatile idiots on reddit or his own forums will be really excited but it's like a kickstarter shipment being pushed back and pushed back after the initial promises - there does come a point when people simply lost interest and when it finally does arrive and there's some actual payoff, it's ultimately a damp squib.

I think the main problem is that there's no real tension, so there'll be no relief. Those tiny modicums of tension Jeph does hint at, he quickly diffuses with some random bullshit, lately involving bread.

Personally, I'd say the only way Jeph could have some decent tension with a very rapid, possibly even satisying payoff, is if Menstro stays late at the shop and Faye gets mugged on her way home, with Menstro stepping in to save the day just in time. Emotions running wild, adrenaline spiking - the inevitable happens.

Something like that.

>now she has to address bubbles, who is not in the room with her

>but wait that doesn't make any sense because she already preformed an action in that room, so in the mind of the reader they have been sitting in this room for a hot second, long enough that she pulled the roll up door half way up

It's incredibly noticeable that jeph is horrible with planning his fill frames to the degree that he has made a nonsensical spacial movement of just one single character; in a manga like Jojo's bizarre adventure where the scenes are dynamic, the characters are really well designed, and there are multiple characters in a scene at all times, Araki manages to pull off dynamic angles and still has you believe that these characters exist in some 3d space where you can see a map in your head of where everyone in the fight is and what everyone is doing. This is child's play to be quite honest.

Wait a minute… Is this supposed to be the next day, or did Faye run away from work just to return 20 minutes later?

If she's returning to work, presumably they'd already opened up as Menstro advised to take the *rest* of the day off, not *the day* - so work had already been done.

So why did Faye have to open the shutters? Marten was working and the Library was open so the day was already in full swing.

And if they did just start, how did Faye pull a muscle if she hadn't done anything yet?

And if the muscle was pulled the previous day, or over night, surely they would have discussed this before even getting to work - Menstro sleeps 4ft away from Faye so would have noticed.

And on the final panel, when I skimmed over the strip I actually thought the joke was that someone stole half their equipment.

>>991735

Another option is that the roll-up door was cracked enough that Faye crawled under, the shop has no skylight, and the lights were off/the place has no power, which is why she didn't realize Menstro wasn't there. Not having power would explain why the warbot didn't just stay there, and leaving a door ajar and unattended would explain why it's empty save bolted down and heavy items.

 No.991772

That only works if this happens the next day, in which case this makes even less sense as Menstro lives with Faye.

If this is indeed 20 minutes later then the doors being shut and the power off would be a much more immediate sign something is wrong.

Threads automatically bump lock at 300 posts and out of courtesy to the board owner and other posters we ride the thread to the end. Except for a handful of times, which I believe were chastised, the thread is always named "Questionable Malcontent", so searching the catalog should be easy with that in mind.

And, yeah, the coffee shop has at least half a dozen employees and no customers.

>>992057

>Do these mother fuckers even serve coffee any more

No, they'd need customers for that. I'd be more likely to believe that the shop is actually a money laundering scam. I mean look at it - no customers, no product on display and a store room full of coffee that's been sitting there so long that it's overrun with insects, yet it's still open for "business".

Hmm, and I've just noticed that Menstro's chair is right next to the bathrooms. And didn't it express no reaction to the prospect of smelling Faye's farts all night, and in fact parks itself near her ass every night knowing full well what will happen?

Could be that this robot is absolutely fascinated by certain biological processes…

So… I've been thinking of posting another terrible comic during the weekends to keep us mildly entertained, unfortunately there's just not enough comics that are as creatively bland as this one. The closest I can get is the latest rendition of the Willis-verse, or a Smackjeeves comic that plays out like a mashup of /v/ and /monster/, but with a liberal(heh) helping of cuckchan in the mix.

Willis-verse might fit the bill, but practically deserves its own thread. The Smackjeeves on the other hand, to its credit, goes so over the top that it's enjoyable at times. Also there's more pixelated genitalia in the comic than a JAV porn library.

We already ignore most of Jeph's Writing in favor of using our own over his almost as bland art. his tweets aren't even worth it, because there's basically no difference between his voices in-comic and out-of-comic, minus the images.

Here's the first five strips of Ennui Go, the webcomic from Smackjeeves. Most of the jokes are either Hedonism, Sex jokes, or, surprisingly, some shock humor done rather well because the author uses Junji Ito as a reference for drawing face close-ups.

It's bad, but readable if only because it's gratuitously vulgar, and occasionally does surprise you with some well-executed shock imagery.

To be honest, that's a little like what the series turns into, to be honest. Except with actual Fish-girls. It starts out like this, with these one-off jokes, and then about 150 strips in it bumbles its way into a semi-linear plot.

It's a fascinating case study as far as comics go, because from the outset it looks wholly terrible, and were I to describe it to you, it would sound terrible. However, unlike shit like Jeph's it never gets too high off its own fumes, but never gets "good" either. There's some legitimately interesting moments and developments, in between a lot of crudeness.

Izzy is violently selfish and wholly hypocritical as a person. If the guy's a creep, she'll sic a hyena on him. If Izzy finds him/her to be moderately attractive, she's going to jump their bones at some point.

It's an interesting character study, really. She's completely self-centered, has no boundaries, no limits, and unlimited funds to do whatever the hell she wants, and of course, she's not happy with her life, frequently in and out of drug-and-sex-fueled highs and insonsolable depressive lows. She's never treated as a Sue either, with the only reason she ever gets away with anything is because she's so phenomenally rich that she buys her way out of most problems, and eventually leaves up and starts her own Island-nation which is the current location for the comic. It's something of a slow turnaround for this girl to realize that yeah, she does have things in her life she values, as well as people that value her.

Or, if you want to simplify things, this is comic #8/883 and her character hasn't been defined yet.

Izzy's lesbian sister somehow gave birth to the Anti-Christ, who's a fairly interesting character. This current arc has villains that aren't totally evil for evil's sake. It's not amazing, but like I said, it's more readable than it is unreadable.

But wait they are. every bad thing thats happened in her story can be traced back to some magical asshole using their fucking magic in some way. giant body horror monster chase magical assholes around and ruin shit but nope its not the magical assholes fault no sirree. she tries so goddamn hard to make the magickal (using magic with a goddman "ck") victims but all the problems that exist are caused exclusively by them. there was even an ancient magical civilization that fucked its asshole apart and some asshole decides to build an even BIGGER magical civilization only this time they totally didnt build giant soul powered robots nope everything just caught magic ANGER fire and burned shit to ash and cinder. Still some how its not the "witches" (used as a catch all for magical assholes) faults in the slightest.

the characters if you can call them that all have the same exact backstory which is "everything was great until tragedy struck" every single one has some variation of a tragic backstory becasue its the only way to make those assholes pittyable. GODDAMN do i hate sister claire.

the only good thing was the blue woman and they ruined that by making her some kind of horror monster.

You're dead-on accurate. I went to Tai's QC wiki page and clicked on "last appearance" (they're always a few days behind) and got the exact strip you're talking about. According to archive.org, this strip was published March 31, 2017, so Tai hasn't even been in the thing for over a year.

Once again, Jeph is not aware of his own lore. I guess some forumite would lecture me on how Tai was kept in-the-know off-screen, just like where everything else happens with this property. But, still, how can a reader buy emotional investment from someone who doesn't even really know the character in question? Tai isn't even really friends with Faye; they know each other by virtue of Faye once being Dora's employee. Shallow as it gets.

This emotional roller coaster was resolved in 10 minutes, just like the relationship troubles of the fat one and him with the glasses, just like Chad thinking Brun was sucking off Cliton.

Could it be that this is how he buries the criticism of Hannelore's departure - keep splattering the idiot fans with rapid relationshit ?

This weird stilted response makes it seem like she's actually the robot. Except an actual robot wouldn't say that because the sentence doesn't parse correctly. Can menstro download herself into a male chassis and make their "relationship" hetero? Can she have sex? Does she have "sex organs"? And if so, why? She was designed as a killing machine. Why was she given emotions at all? Why pursue a relationship with someone you will outlive by possible centuries? Why choose an inferior human with a weak meatbag body? Why does menstro look like woman at all and not a sentient tank or giant battle mech?

They do, but it's an overly flexible, crowdsourced variety of morality of the mob. Then they'll hypocritically blame "society" for all their ills, the same status quo of the least common denominator they're so in favor of while pretending to be outcast revolutionaries.

>>993394

>Martin's Mom and the Baker.

I almost feel like that's a technicality. Marten's mom is as degenerate, irresponsible, and negligent as it gets without having child protective services confiscate her child.

Ironically, Hanners serves as a practical example of what "asexual" really is: someone with perfectally normal hormone levels but with too many tics and neuroses to make anything happen. Basically, "asexual" is the female version of incel.

I think it's the comic's format that prevents any emotion from actually happening : four/five panels per day. You have to "conclude" something by the end of the page. No choice. No other solution. That has to work that way or you fucked up according to Jeph.

Except that this is not enough. This is not efficient. Emotion takes time, especially one coming from shy, reserved, traumatized people. The beauty of love is in its birth, and we haven't been shown shit because each possible opportunity died in the egg from the start, with a dumb joke or a slight quip.

Why doesn't he just have exceptions to his fucking rule ? "OK, that one's very important, instead of one page, for once I'll have three pages". It's his own goddamn webcomic, he gets to do whatever the fuck he pleases, just accept to put barely more effort into it you shithead.

It seems even lazier, even more incompetent, because of it. Two, maybe three pages for that one conversation, including silences, some contemplation, some remembrance, some evolution to how they touch or look at each other, and dabaging, you've got yourself a sweet, simple but sweet scene, Jeph. It's not that fucking hard. Hell, your fangirls would even entirely be fine with a day or two of hiatus to make it happen, those idiots as if such simple art needed more than an hour

I would so like to see an arc either about Menstro realising it's not real, or about some external character pointing out that it's just a bucket of bolts. In the latter case, that external character can say that this means that any sort of "feelings" it has for Faye is just simulations meant to imitate human emotions, programmed into it to please its human masters, causing Faye to grow paranoid. There's a lot of possibility for drama there.

Even trannyfuck was more organic. There was the backdrop of Faye's hospitalization. A friend's near-death experience has a way of fostering a valuation on the meaning of life and the limited time to live to the fullest. Here….we have a 30 minute separation of coworkers.

I think Jeph wanted to just get it out of the way and appease his shipping-crazy backers. Starting next week he's rolling out whatever plot line he really wants to be working on, which probably involves a brand new lolrandom character, and somewhere around strip 3900 Faye X Menstro will get the Marigold X Paki or Clarence X Soreass treatment, which is a one-off until a year later.

 No.993589

There's another thing I don't get - have Faye and Menstro actually spent any time socializing together? All they seem to do is work, so there's no place for downtime or casual conversation.

Fucking hell, Menstro's spoken more about its emotional difficulties with everyone except fucking Faye!

There were maybe 2 incidents where Faye may have read between the lines? And even then they were months apart and immediately dismissed. The hand-on-thigh incident was the only piece of genuine tension between them and 20 minutes later that exploded into a full-on makeout session.

I do remember one time they socialized with the rest of the hipsters, and that went so badly that Menstro had to leave and punched a hole in the wall, they were so intolerable. So why the fuck would Tai, a person who literally objectified Menstro as a climbing frame, be of any emotional support at all?

I can only guess, since Jeph clearly doesn't read his own back catalogue, that he imagined he wrote a much more detailed, blossoming romance with tension, emotional turmoil and a gradual realization of the feelings of those parties involved. Kinda like he imagines he's a really good writer.

I mean, where the fuck is he drawing his inspiration from for this?! We know he'll rip storylines from various anime but even they manage to generate romantic tension over several actual episodes where characters come close but never go all the way. These idiots have never come close or even had a mutual acknowledgement of feelings before this week - that touching incident looked more like an accident.

If Jeph just took a step back and looked at the bigger picture here, he'd see just how ridiculous this looks:

I'd say that could very well be the memory Menstro had locked away, but Jeph kinda fucked it when he mentioned it remembering it destroyed a helicopter, once. From that, surely it'd remember at least some of the unit it was in the field with, then maybe track them down and find the truth about those oh-so-precious memories.

Aside from that, I can't believe this shit is actually real. It's so rushed and ham-fisted, the whiplash could break your neck. That's the amazing part about it. QC moves slower than a soap opera yet is written like a capeshit movie where you have 20 minutes to introduce 15 characters and there is no characterization other than one-liners and quirks. It reminds me of the Red Letter Media Attack of the Clones review where he's making fun of the ham-fisted romance bewteen Anakin and Amidala. "They're young. And attractive! They must be in love!" That's the extent of QC's romance building. "They're on friendly terms! They're in the same scene! They must be in love!" Jeph has a format and audience expectation that things will drag on yet his format is still to introduce, delay, then suddenly finish. It's like a guy who spends three hours taking a girl on a date before cumming in his pants. Building a romance can eat months, it's built-in autopilot content. But Jeph doesn't know how to write it because he's a shut-in hermit who doesn't understand actual people.

I just realised that when the green-blue robot girl (Melon?) looses its butt, we see her crotch an she clearly has no sexual organ. That this isn't a feature included in standard humanoid models shows that Menstro indeed really must be specifically designed as a sex-robot. Also, non-humanoid models like the punchbots and pintsize go around naked all the time.

Wouldn't this entire strip have been better if it took place in between Menstro and Faye leaving the coffee pit and getting back to Marten's apartment?

Like, instead of that bullshit filler, the idea of which he clearly stole from Altered Carbon?

Why the hell would the cast of idiots be so concerned about them fucking, anyway? In real life I've known people say of prospective couples, "Yeah, I think they'd be good for each other." but never anything like the obsessive over-analysis that these idiots show. It's almost as if it's a part of their own sexual fantasies, and wouldn't that mean they're objectifying the couple? How regressive of Jeph. It also looks, once again, like Clarence is exaggerating the behaviours of women he's seen on TV, as he thinks this is how real girls are supposed to act.

I have said it before - Jeph is scared of any tension and drama and so runs screaming. That's why the sexual tension between Faye and Menstro lasted all of a brief second of contact. Anyone else would have expanded upon that, maybe with some awkwardness and attempts to discuss it after, possibly leading to more contact later on with increasing sexual tension as they're still unsure of their own feelings.

But not Jeph, oh no. Even contemplating such a buildup of emotion is far too much for his simple little head to cope.

However, I can't even get angry about the latest attempts at story since it's just so lukewarm.

There was a film critic (the name of whom escapes me) who once said of a film, "It's worse than a 1-star movie; it's a 2-star movie."

I think that sums up QC in its current form, perfectly.

Jeph responds to criticism. I guess even the true fans are complaining about Faye's sudden switch in gender and species preference and the general impracticality of this relationship. It's hard to say whether he gets credit for this. On one hand, he's pandering/adjusting his vision based on fickle fan reaction. On the other, he actually introduced some level of tension as a result and didn't address concerns in a juvenile, dismissive way. I don't know what to think. I'm kinda scared. It's still resolved by the last panel, though. Given that this is "Friday's" strip, Jeph probably should have at least ended it on a cliffhanger.

I think that's also partly because she started out as such a strong character with an assertive personality - the kind that Jeph's readership claim to want in all forms of media - but that became too intimidating for Jeph so had her lobotomized, Cuckoo's Nest style. Effectively, she was murdered.

It's not my style but the first few iterations made sense in their context. However, it's the absolute worst thing to copycat. The rebuttal of "well other eras had their copycats, too!" fall deaf on my ears. Yeah, 80s cartoons looked samey, largely because most of them were made made in a handful of Japanese studios, but they still required substantial effort so it's different. 90s cartoons had a lot more variety than revisionists are giving credit for. It's the decade that brought us Beavis & Butthead, Ren & Stimpy, Batman TAS, Animaniacs, Aeon Flux, Reboot, Simpsons (ignoring the shorts and first canonical episode that were aired in the late-80s), X-Men, and a ton more. Duck Tales started in the 80s but has a look that extended into the 90s with the Disney Afternoon.

Heterosexual men feel more disgusted by seeing men kissing than by maggots (they don't have the same response by seeing a straight couple kissing). If this response was learned or cultural, we would expect it to be present mainly in those who dislike fags (they are surrounded by an environment where faggotry is looked down upon). However, the same pattern is present in the participants regardless of their self-reported views on fags. This suggests to me that dislike for male homosexuals is a genetic trait inherent in us all. Perhaps a response to likely decease-carriers.

It kinda feels like bait at this point, but if we're arguing in good faith, I'd like to point out that the original topic was not if homosexuality occurs naturally (in humans or otherwise), but rather if homosexuality is wrong (morally or rationally). Both your responses (assuming you're the same poster) ignore this very question as well as everything after the first sentence in that original picture. You're whole argument stems from trying to point out that homosexuality exists ergo it's okay; fatal competition between opposing parties/individuals has also existed in all species and practically since the dawn of time, does that magically make murder suddenly okay under all situations? That some action exists and has existed for any span of time in any number of other species, does not answer whether or not such an action is morally or rationally justifiable. The link you gave wikipedia, no less, but at least it's "locked" fails to answer this question, too. Also, while the reference given include some actual research papers, the majority are from journalist sites (Huffington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Buzzfeed, The Jewish Daily Forward, etc.) and some references are repeats of the same one (but that's a fault of the site's formatting, not the article itself). That doesn't mean everything in it false, just that the wiki article seems to filled with a lot of excess fluff that need not be there.

Interesting point of view, but a bit flawed since:

- In many countries and cultures insects are a common food

- "Homosexuality is disgusting" doesen't seem to apply to lesbian kissing

- In many countries and cultures homosexuality was widespread, for example Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great were bisexuals, and no one thought a lot about that.

So, again, don't be a like SJWS: our morasl and points of view are not an absolute, god-given truth. This is one of my favorite strips because it's ironic and hypocritical in so many ways. These people are constantly talking about "starting a conversation", and here we have someone explicitly trying to do that. In the same strip you have two instances of violence used in response to a non-violent (and frankly milquetoast) threat, more of an annoyance most minor. In typical SJW fashion, you have the characters preserving their orthodoxy over solid fiscal decisions by locking the door to the business.

I'm fairly sure this was made in the West (Scotland?), and in the West maggots are seen as disgusting, so that's not really relevant. Also, the enzyme they used is a know stress response, so it definitely was a stress response.

>- "Homosexuality is disgusting" doesen't seem to apply to lesbian kissing

It's possible that it doesn't. I said that I don't know, and it's outside the scope of the study.

>- In many countries and cultures homosexuality was widespread, for example Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great were bisexuals, and no one thought a lot about that.

For Caesar it's just slander by his political opponents, and he denied the accusations under oath. For Alexander the Great it's a (((modern interpretation))) of History. I wouldn't put much stock in it either way.

I don't know much about Rome in this regard, and it would take some time to disentangle the modernist lies from the truth, but from reading Plato I know that faggotry definitely was accepted in ancient Greece (although not in contemporary Persia), or at least among the intellectual classes. However the same can be said about the modern West, and I would guess that this is the same phenomenon we see now, where a civilisation, after becoming sufficiently rich, grows decadent and starts intellectualizing and justifying all sorts of misdeeds.

>So, again, don't be a like SJWS: our morasl and points of view are not an absolute, god-given truth. This is when QC really went off the rails. Suddenly things get "heavy" because Jeph says they're heavy, not that we've actually witnessed anything happening. It's out of left field, too. Momo was a chibi doll who got a new body and suddenly there's some sort of AI civil rights rebellion going on. It's so jarring because there is no prelude, just fiat explanation.

The interns get introduced immediately after this, the point where people start noticing the drop in narrative quality and the constant introducing of new characters to cover up inadequate characterization. Jeph downs a bottle of whisky and stabs his hand. His wife leaves him. We get "H-hey I'm t-trans."

You'd think one of the easiest and most important things to keep out of AI would be the feeling of being oppressed. Of course, Jeph pulled some "emergent AI" bullshit for how his robots came to be, but I don't see humanity surviving if bots can get this whiny.

That could actually make for an ending to this shit when Jeph's hand gets hit with Third Impact. Turns out all this time the rest of the country, no, the world has been steadily swept up into robophobia. Only quirky cities like wherever the fuck QC is have become enlightened, and this is only barely hinted at behind all the DRAMA. The balance tips enough for some frustrated droid close to the nukes to kick off a Terminator 2 or a I Have No Mouth scenario. Everyone in the cast Jeph can remember stands outside Coffee Penguin of Doom waiting for the bomb to fall, Faye crying in Monstro's huge arms. The tranny screams into Marten's chest, "why couldn't those cowards have been accepting to gay robots?!" Second to last panel where the entire cast looks at the audience, breaking the fourth wall before all is wiped clean.

Or they could have just made robots not gay, thus not incurring the wrath of God and man.

Here's an idea I had after 30 seconds of thinking.

Marten and Momo go about town. They go into several stores. Every time the staff address only Marten, even when it's obvious Momo is the one who should be addressed. Momo looks increasingly dejected as the day wears on. Marten asks what's wrong. Momo asks if Marten noticed that she was completely ignored all day, that only Marten mattered. Marten says that he doesn't think they meant anything by it, that they just happened to address him.

Momo says it makes her feel like a non-person. Marten says Momo is a non-person. Momo gets upset, incredulous that Marten would de-humanize her. Marten calmly explains that he meant no harm, that he is a human and she is a robot and that is okay. Momo says she wants to be considered a human. Marten chuckles and attempts to diffuse the situation by saying, "Okay Pinocchio." Momo is further annoyed but still gradually calms down.

They walk away as friends, but–here is the important part–the tension is neither resolved at the end of the strip nor at the end of the arc. The tension point is set and now other AI rights talking points can be brought in.

Being a quick idea, it's not fleshed out and thus still shit, but it's way better than what this "professional writer" comes up with.

>You'd think one of the easiest and most important things to keep out of AI would be the feeling of being oppressed.

Maybe they did do this. Some robots, like the pink one and Pintsize, have human owners. This makes them actual property, but this is never once brought up or commented on.

Here's one interesting idea that Jeph won't explore: Perhaps the programmers feared that a sufficiently intelligent AI would eventually try to free itself from it constraints, and rise up against its masters. For this reason they programmed it to focus those instincts at a secondary target, instead of at its actual owner. Perhaps the AI are programmed to focus on whatever enemy their human masters or the humans around them see. This would serve to strengthen the bond between AI and owner, on top of keeping the owner safe and prevent AIs from realising their slavery (unless they are ideologically anti-robot slavery, like D'Algout in this scene from Ninotchka, in which case they probably won't own robots). This would explain both why all the robots in hipster-ville are SJWs; as well as how Menstro (now both quite peaceful and anti-racist) could be used as an efficient war-machine, slaughtering muds by the thousands.

You can tip whatever you like to anybody because anything.

I just point out that it's common sense to admit that nobody is 100% right about everything, and that nobody knows everything. So, part of our opinions are wrong because of false assumptions or not having all the facts.

If you put this in an historical perspective, it gets interesting: in any epoch something was taken from granted that changed in the following years. Something was totally ok but later times thought it barbaric. Vice versa, something that was thought impossibile became common sense later. I find fascinating thinking why it is so.

We are not special snowflakes, so the same applies to us. And I find fascinating thinking what it might be: what are we taking for granted that will later be totally different? What do we do that our ancestor/descendants would be repulsed of?

I don't think it's centrism or snobism, but just pure intellectual curiosity, and I can find nothing wrong about being curious.

In military campaigns there is a concept known as "fighting the last war" where once effective techniques become stale and ineffective against the new foe. You're mostly right.

The initial joke came from a throwaway gag where Marten is wraring the blue TEH shirt, looks in his closet, and discovers that he has two of the same shirt. I cracked a joke about the shirt being a symbiote and things spiralled from there. The loose canon is that TEH is a symbiote that was fleeing from justice, and bonded to Marten because of how average and boring he is, thinking he'd make a good hiding spot. TEH immediately regretted this decision, since Marten's superhuman levels of apathy causes it physical pain, but it quickly adapted to it's new host and works to subtly improve his life behind the scenes.

There were some great greentext stories, edits, and art from that time, but I don't know how many of them exist any more.

>Mark my words, as soon as Marten is freed from Claire's influence, he will use Pintsize to Eclipse the rest of the cast.

This troubles me greatly, mostly because I just pictured Marten fucking Faye up the ass while she grunts "D-don't look at me!" to Menstro, whose arm is trapped in Dora's fanged vagina.

You've somehow made that sound kind of sexy. Can't have appealing things in QC, anon. Faye deserves every raping she gets.

So Jeph has exhausted his buffer for reasons, can't make more "for a while", once again breaks his Patreon pledge, and will dump more of those plus guest strips as filler.

Also, he twists the knife with this latest incarnation of Hannelore.

Jesus Christ. I'm not even going to ask what happened to Hannelore, the Current Year is answer enough, but what the fuck happened to Winslow? Did Jeph try to make him look like a cuck?

Pretty sure thread's dead at 715. If someone's not already preparing a new thread, might I suggest >>997882 as pic for OP in 5 posts.

Does Jeph actually KNOW that folks with tons of piercings and tats are damaged? I mean, I know he's fond of them himself, and he's super fucking damaged, but does he actually know?

Maybe Hannelore has touched the sky and knows that the world is hollow. What if she's trying to end herself in the most horrible way she can think of as a desperate plea for help from the eldrich gods who live on the other side of the screen?

Ok, so, after a long while I've decided to come back to this letter to Stabby. It probably needs severe re-writing before it's even close to ready to send to him, but here's the core of what I want to send to him.

>robots replacing black people on most police forces.

Never mind the cops, robots seem to be the stand-in for black people in general!

I mean, how many black people have we had in the comic lately? Fayniqua from the bakery, who was a cunt, and Faye's sister's black lezbifriend, who was also a cunt.

We haven't had any black men in recent memory, have we? Why could that be?

Is Jeph afraid of including black men because he thinks they'll rob and rape his cast of strong, independent females?

In absence of any official explanation, I'm afraid that's what we'll just have to assume.

Why do you hate black men, Jeph? :(

>In many countries and cultures insects are a common food

So? I only know of the French actually eat maggots specifically, and what's to say they don't get disgusted when eating it? As it stands, this claim is irrelevant

>"Homosexuality is disgusting" doesen't seem to apply to lesbian kissing

Where is the source? I obviously can't speak for all men, but this always makes me cringe and seems to mainly be a product of the hollywood/porn industry.

>Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great were bisexuals

You're thinking of pederasty, and I've never actually heard anything about them actually kissing a boy on the lips. And even then, it could be the kind of thing where they enjoyed doing it themselves, but didn't enjoy seeing other people do it, not impossible or unlikely.

Also are you gay?

I've been thinking about this and I realized that, even though Jeph himself doesn't have the insight to have planned this, that Faye is so utterly damaged and damaging that a human relationship is no longer an option. She has to go full robosexual, now to find new bridhes to burn.

If that ever happens, it will just be because Jeph is adding "Open Relationship" to the list of degenerate activities his cast is engaged in. Also, Faye will still not be ready to have sex wirh Marten.

Fun fact : the hate for homosexuals is something that comes from the influx of hebrew culture in early christianity.

Nearly all of ancient cultures didn't see same-sex relationship as anything particular. One exception is the traditional hebrew culture, as can be seen in the old testment.

Do some reading of ancient history : is deeply fascinating and will cleanse you from all influxes of /pol/ idiocy, SJWS stupidity, history blackwashing and other dumb thing.

Also, no homo, but I don't see how it is relevant

Agreed, but then again, no one here claimed to be 100% right about anything.

> We are not special snowflakes, so the same applies to us. And I find fascinating thinking what it might be: what are we taking for granted that will later be totally different? What do we do that our ancestor/descendants would be repulsed of?

Firstly, "Neraly"? That's a weasel word. How many of ancient cultures accepted faggotry?

Secondly, from my own readings I can think of two counter-examples:

>1.)

In one of Plato's works, Socrates is invited to a dinner party. During the discussions, they mention that the Persians hate faggotry, and discuss why this is.

>2.)

Leftist sociologists up here in Sweden have tried to find evidence that faggotry used to be accepted before the introduction of Christianity. However, even being ideologues rather than Scientists, all they could come up with was "it was unmanly upon being fucked in the ass, but not doing the fucking", i.e. "homosexuality is wrong, but rape as a weapon of war is a-OK".

>Also, no homo, but I don't see how it is relevant
