>tfw the 200X series had the high pitched voice
I remember when G.I. Joe: Retaliation was coming out and I heard a rumor that they got Charlie Adler to voice Cobra Commander. That made me actually want to see the movie. Then the first trailer dropped and when I heard Cobra Commander's off-brand Darth Vader voice, any interest I had in the film was gone.

>That animation
I know that's a high budget episode, but I can't stop to think that if we would have continued trying to achieve this animation, by now the people working on cartoons would be so accustomed by this level of detail and work and the evolution of animation technology would be so advanced in response that by now 2018 we could achieve some amazing stuff.
But we retreated to grinning potatoes cuz they were cheap.

The 200X series was fire because it kicked the action up a few notches and gave everyone a sharper bolder look, but it did both of those without outright abandoning the goofy charm that was present in the original and that's something I really wish creators would take more note of when rebooting shit.

The 200X series was an ok series, but it wasn't perfect. The serious lore stuff they attempted was often embarrassingly cringe-worthy. Stuff like the Sorceress all but saying that she fucked some guy, and the show implying that guy was god-damn Fisto. The show varied from "FUCK YEAH!" to "Fuck no."
The biggest "Fuck no" was probably the fact they were going to bring back the fucking Snake-Men, again. Shit like that makes me glad it got canned when it did.

Some of the designs are actually nice (I really like the reworked Trap-jaw), though some of the reworked backgrounds are 2edgy (Evil-lyn getting raped by Skeletor, Man-e-Faces being basically a parasitic robot hat).
And while the suggestion of making more Skeletor more of a Lich over body builder with a floating skull head is a good one, he fucked up portraying it. This looks more like a twink during halloween then a lich.

I'm not seeing what makes that animation so special. It looks like your average medium budget anime fight, possibly with better shading. It uses a lot of the same animation tricks too, like the stupid speed lines instead of backgrounds.
