So that Hellboy ending. What the fuck?
I was very sick when Hellboy ended and missed out on the final two issues. For christmas i was gifted the library edition hardback of the whole 'In Hell' final arc and while the art is as gorgeous as usual boy is the ending maybe mignolas worst issue ever.
If you never read it:
A demon from earlier in the arc falls through the roof of satans grandmothers tomb. She asks him whats happening in hell and he lies there describing how hell froze, pandemonium collapsed when Hellboys sister went mad and screamed a scream so metal it shattered the walls and with no fucking connection to the last issue hellboy is now a grey skinned, winged giant who fought behemoth and the primordial serpent and then killed the last lords of hell who wanted to go find pluo and then he broke his horns off again and vanished. Then hellboy is just a normal room with 3 floating geometric shapes that repeat the lines from the first issue when he was summoned to earth. Out of fucking nowhere thats it and it just ends
Mignola said he had two more issues planned but said 'it felt right' and i just dont understand. Its a bad ending. Why was this is finale to his magnum opus? Its like ending an opera with a large fat man bending over a mic and farting.
