Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is dead. A hastily and shoddily made game won't sell. Who would have thought? :P

Saying that, what's a good /co/ vidya gaem? The last good one was Arkham Asylum (City was getting silly and Knight was DUMB).

I'd imagine that's reason enough.

Anyway, how was Comix Zone? I never played it as a kid, but now I live in nip land, where retro games remain mostly affordable (even the most obscure, and often imported-from-Japan-anyway Megadrive or Snes game is £50+ in the UK today), and I ought to track it down. That, Vectorman and Colony Wars. Yeah, wish me luck…

>what's a good /co/ vidya gaem?

Off the top of my head:

>Darkness 1 and 2

>old Turok games

>Sam and Max

>Spider-Man 2

>Hulk Ultimate Destruction

>Kingdom Hearts

>Scott Pilgrim which is not purchasable since Anamanaguchi are retards and refused to extend the music license, supposedly because Anita Sarkeesain told them that Scott Pilrim is a misogynistic male fantasy. It was one of the best brawlers and co-op games released within last decade or two, and probably one of the best licensed games ever.

Other good ones were already mentioned. Wolf Among Us is pretty good too, but it is mostly due to atmosphere. There is plenty of mediocre, but sort of entertaining ones, like LastFight (Power Stone-like fighter based on the LastMan), Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1, Deadpool, Wolverine, and Punisher from 2004. They can be entertaining in short bursts, bur get old pretty quickly and over time their flaws make them harder to enjoy.

There is also a metric tone of shitty games, which is a shame. Many comics and cartoons could be turned into interesting games. Witchblade or Venom could make a good cuhrazee games, Punisher could be a tactical shooter, Iron Fist a beat-them-up, Locke and Key a puzzle/horror/exploration, Human Target into a Hitman-like game where you ate the target of assassins, and so on. Instead, all we get are lazy generic action-adventure games and repetitive TellTale's VN's with illusion of choice.

On a side note, Infamous 1 and 2 and 1st Prototype are decent cape-inspired games. City of Heroes was also great, but it is sadly dead now.

>Instead, all we get are lazy generic action-adventure games and repetitive TellTale's VN's with the illusion of choice.

I liked The Wolf Among Us, Fables was definitely better as a point & click mystery than as an adventure game and maybe I'm having weird memories but IIRC it went kinda meta at the end which gave weight to your choices since the trial of the Crooked Man was actually based on your actions. Either way, the story was better than the issues that were coming out around then and the directing and setting were great.

the Scott Pilgrim thing is even worse than all that

Anamanaguchi's lead's GF was one of Anita's faithful and knew Brian Lee O'Malley's ex-GF (who he dumped after she cheated on him). Thus the cascade of crap.

Shadow Man had one good game and a passable sequel. At this point games are probably better remembered than the comic.

Wakfu is kind of an odd duck, where cartoon became more popular than the game it was based on.

>>958988

>what kind of idiot company doesn't get music rights in perpetuity per title?

Rockstar is notorious for this. Their old GTA games have music removed from them every few years, which also happens to break saves for whatever reason. Other notable examples are Capcom's Dragon's Dogma music swap for PC release due to expired licenses, and Alan Wake getting pulled from all stores after their music licenses expired earlier this year.

Surprisingly enough, EA has the best track record when it comes to securing music rights. Old NFS and sport games have enormous amount of licensed music, but no songs were pulled from them. Hopefully so is the case for Brutal Legend, because music makes that game.
