Fuck, you could even make a whole episode with moral lessons about that.
>Dude, that's a purse
<No, it's a bag
>He's right, Craig. It's a purse. That's for women
<But purses never carry Transformers! And not fucking girly mirrors. You are making it very obvious Craig is le quirky queer kid stuff xD and not just a kid who does what he wants
Later, to the Generic Authority Figure of Confidence of any cartoon. His mom, for example.
<Mom, they keep saying my bag is a purse.
>Well, it used to be MY purse…
<Oh…
>But it can be your bag now.
Craig keeps the purse, and either keeps calling it a bag, or starts calling it a purse with no remorse. You teach kids not to cave in to social pressure, to do what they think is right, and if you choose to make him start calling it a purse, to embrace reality and just make of it what you will ("it may be a purse, but it's my purse. A manly purse"), which is ubermensch as fuck.
There, a subplot fucking miles better and deeper than the shitty propaganda they thought of. Has more character development, a better message than "boys its okay to wear make up and purses, it just means you are nonbinary, awesome, brave and stunning lol", and doesn't look as ridiculous. I can't believe I came with this while taking a dump and they didn't think of it in the weeks this pilot has probably been in the making.
