Not sure how to feel about this. On one hand it's nice to see a DC comic that smashes Harley's crappy redesign. On the other hand it's far too on the nose and
>step back for feminism
certainly doesn't help.
So far comic seems to do the opposite of what Murphy said he intends to do. Instead Joker becoming a good guy, he is just a different kind of bad guy - he just switched from an unhinged maniac to a lying and manipulative psychopath with a messiah complex. He is also a complete hypocrite. Meanwhile, Batman just seems to be a god guy who genuinely cares, but just has been pushed to the brink by all the super criminals - Joker especially.

That kind of makes it fun doesn’t it, think of it years down the line and how people might interpret it as they see rather than what the creators are trying to push.

>Plan to turn Gotham against Batman to expose political corruption (even though everyone knew for years Gotham is a corrupt shithole), even though the man was the only thing stopping him and people like himself, Ivy, Croc, and co from tearing the city apart. Seriously, Batman's the bad guy for fucking up real estate when the alternative is to let these freaks kill everyone? Fuck you Murphy
>Turns Clayface into a brainwashed slave and turns him into dust (risking killing the guy) to brainwash the other villains and use their criminal resources in his SJW slander campaign
If this doesn't end with Joker revealing he was still insane and just trying to ruin his reputation by feigning a cure, I'm gonna be pissed.

Hence the 'not sure how to feel about this' part.
Another bothersome element is that characters like Two Face, Penguin, Bane, and Riddeler just trusted joker on 'just wanting to have a causal drink' and drank alcohol that he brought and poured. I could buy others doing that, but not the four most cunning criminals in Gotham. And how did Scarface get mind controlled? He's a puppet!
Now that I re-read it, there is another issue. Image four in >>936620 has bruce stating that Freeze wore his suit for 50 years. However, in previous issue Joker claimed to be the first super criminal. Is that another sign of Joker's megalomania and lies, did freeze just sit on his ass and was only undertook super-villany after Joker emerged, or is Murphy a writer who can't maintain continuity for two issues?
Speaking of freeze, why did he just took the formula?
>There's no time to waste
Isn't not being frozen led to having even less time? And why did mice dying of "old age" lay in pools of blood?
The more I think about this book the worse it gets, but then I am not quite used to typical cape comics. Artwork is it's main saving grace so far
>>936709
>If this doesn't end with Joker revealing he was still insane and just trying to ruin his reputation by feigning a cure, I'm gonna be pissed.
Given first pages of first issue, it will probably end with Joker and Batman teamming up. There could also be a crazy twist, where Joker will become Batman and Batman will become Joker.

That's his secret superpower: making everyone stupid.

Man, I miss when comic writers read things other than other comics. For example, drinking etiquette describes tequila as a digestive liqueur, something to be served after a dinner to aide in digestion. Or if it's wine, we could go into wine tasting and it's aromas. There are so many things that could make this complicated and interesting.
Of course, instead we need every other villain to be a complete shit-head because "muh Joker".

>Joker stops dressing like the Joker, claims he's cured.
>Harley also claims to be cured/ not insane.
>Still regularly wears her costume.
>The two decide to "fix" Gotham by mind controlling all of Batmans villains and getting them to take him down.
Gee, that's a great way to show that the Joker is a good person! Have his sidekick continue dressing like she's a villian and brainwash people into doing their bidding!
I'd like to give this the benefit of the doubt and say they're going to pull some sort of twist to ending to the story with the Joker still being insane but I don't think this is self aware enough for that to work. Also:
>>936618
>The Joker never committed any violent crimes, the GCPD only claimed he did to con people out of money.
Sure, alright, fine. But then how do you explain >>936621, >>936622 where he at the very least tortured Jason Todd, if not outright murdered him? Are we going to have some sort of pro-Joker Red-Hood turn up at some point to claim that Mistah J din do nuffin he just taught the boy to laugh? I mean they've already got Barbra acting like some sort of bimbo (>>936620), so it's not exactly like they've been trying to keep the asorted non-Joker characters consistent.

What really gets to me is how repetitive drawings are, and 9 panel grid only amplifies it. It would be acceptable if it was limited to one page at a time or at least used purposefully, but as >>939254 pointed out, reading pages >>938720 >>938719 >>938718 in a sequence just makes the whole thing feel ridiculous. Team working on the books also seems too tied to 9 panel format and refuses to break it, even if it would benefit the book. The way the art is drawn makes it feel very cramped too. It's just panel after panel of heads or heads+upper torsos.
All of that put together make the book feel like a chore to read, and the whole trying really hard to be deep thing doesn't help either. What are the points of panels with veggies and dip in them?

Why does food in American comics always look so bad? Europeans, South Americans, and Japs always manage to make it look apetizing at very least. Even in American comics where art is good, pencilers, inkers, and colorists seem to lose all their ability when food is involved.
