Talk about your favorite ghouls here.

Bit of a refresher:

>local tripfag Toonspew has Big Ideas™ for a Ghoul School reboot that he wants to bring to life in some form, whether it be an animated show, comic series, etc.

>has written stories, shared concepts, and commissioned some concept art

>OK K.O releases an episode involving most of the Ghoul School cast

>Toonspew attempts to contact Ian (creator of OK K.O.)

>conversation unfortunately doesn't really go anywhere

>Toonspew doesn't really know what to do anymore and is open to ideas

Might as well repost my unofficial Revolta design so far, since that thread's been pretty inactive and I doubt anyone saw it.

Starting to get closer to what I want with Revolta here. I think I'm almost done with this piece, though I'm not sure about the spider arms, as I don't think their curvy shapes really compliment their exoskeletal nature. Other than that, I believe I just need to finish up her spider legs and tweak a few things here and there.

That's because Toonspew takes his sweet time posting here.

You need to practice drawing hands, and draping fabric.

The tufts at the top of her mass if hair make no sense.

also, man, you need to start practicing longer strokes, not drawing from a stiff wrist. Or cheat and up you line prediction when you ink, that waviness in the right upper arm is a mess.

Mirroing your drawing periodically will help you spot things like how much fatter looking her right arm and palm is versus left.

Honestly it's just kind of awkward looking, her head looks like it's floating since you haven't hunched her forward or given a view that would hide the entire neck. And the spider arms look out of place. Maybe bring some of the brown spider anatomy just up curving into the chest a little or something. Show some slight change to the chest structure to allow for control of the arms?

Your shading on the skirt doesn't match the scalloping you've drawn. I'm pretty sure you have no idea how overlapping folds and drapes of cloth work and tried to wing it in the shaing and it shows badly.i it's just a really visually unappealing picture and that ain't from the subject matter.

Do more sketching. You got a lot to learn

I appreciate the advice, and I'll try to do some revisions and sketches. I'm trying to mimic Mister D's style here for the sake of consistency, but anatomically-realistic humanoid characters are a weakness of mine. I tend to work better with more stylized characters because I'm a talentless hack the rules are a lot more clear and less strict. Drawing hands is still a pain for me to accomplish either way though.

I'm glad I got some constructive feedback, as the other thread mostly felt like I was talking to a brick wall. I'm aware when my drawings look off, it's just that I typically need someone else to point out their flaws out to me so that I can fully understand why they look the way they do. I feel like I'm pretty good at modelling 3D characters because any flaws tend to be more apparent and everything's a lot more tweakable, but with all the time I spent in that area I didn't really improve on my drawing skills in general.

Pic related is a character I modelled in Blender and textured in Substance Painter. As you can see, I'm not entirely worthless as an artist.

No, you are a failure of a person, number one cause of global warming and future detonant of WW3. Make sure to never ever visit a drawthread, least you risk reviving them.

In all honesty, most of the stuff that anon mentioned can be fixed by knowing your tools properly. Free transform, stabilizator… you know. Sure, you wouldn't be doing it the "real" way, but if you can't make it, fake it

Perhaps, but I imagine it would look a bit blurry and smeared after some stretching. I could probably just redraw the lines though, so I don't think it would be that big of a deal. Will work on her when I can.

Yes, you gotta scrap that drawing and redo it completely, if you want it to look good. The reason the sketch phase exists is so you can make it as blurry or terrible as you want; you will polish it with a stabilized pen later in the inking phase.

The bright side is, you can use that drawing as your base sketch, with a low enough opacity. In my opinion, the hands aren't that bad if you are going for a simpler style. If it were me, I would make them sickly thin and boney, but that's just an opinion. Just make sure to redraw the bad parts over it, after fixing them with free transform or liquify.

Okay, I'll try sketching her out again later and see what I end up with.

It admittedly feels kind of weird hearing all this drawing advice, mainly considering that I remember being pretty good at this sort of thing years ago. My drawings weren't perfect, mind you, but some of my older illustrations just generally looked like they had more effort put into them. Maybe it's because my current workflow with digital illustrations is kind of crappy, or maybe the fact that I've been modelling more than drawing has stunted my growth in that area and made me lose a bit of my edge.

Regardless, I want to get better at this sort of thing. I need to be more adaptable to different styles if I ever intend to grow as an artist. Thank you for all your advice anons.
