It used to run repeteatedly in a public TV channel, I think it was SBT. Like, a session of consecutive episodes almost everyday. Eventually, as a brazilian 00s kid, you were bound to watch a Woodpecker cartoon, maybe even have it be your first impression with classic cartoons. Not that it was anything top tier.

Why is this franchise so popular? All I recall is that it was like a way unfunnier version of the Bugs Bunny shtick (except replace a mythological, Jewish prankster with an annoying laugh) and that the main theme was an ear worm that you grow to hate and mock the more it repeats.

This is the only Woody Woodpecker cartoon I can remember.

It's funny, in the comics I read when I was little, Woody wasn't a jerk, like how in the comics Dynomutt isn't retarded, and the Road Runner talks in rhyme.

Anyway, the notable thing about this cartoon is that the big secret at the time it was made was that the same woman who voiced "Gorgeous Gal" was Woody's VA.

The owner/founder of SBT (who also loves US media so much) said that Western cartoons will continue to air on his channel on mornings until the day he dies in response to other executives.
