How many characters do you think still exist today even with the dramatic drop in quality of their main line comics purely because they're visually so iconic. The two biggest characters of this idea to me are Batman and Spider-man. Sure the animated shows for them both are what really gave them their popularity but even today they're so iconic to the point small children will see them and instantly know who they are. Let's just revel in iconic designs and characters who simply have to look cool to be likable. Even if their comics are garbage now or not.
