There's an episode where Mickey is trying to make a move on Minnie and Goofy keeps bothering them until he literally vores them so they can do their thing inside of his cartoon belly, it was rather creepy.
>>1031290
Yeah, I really like the fact they didn't make any of the characters too one-dimensional and they have their original flaws, like Mickey being a goody two shoes but still a huge troublemaker and Goofy being borderline retarded when it's bad and a lovable goofball when he's good.
Best episode to me was Potato Land, but I also appreciate the ones set in various nations across the globe that have appropriate voice actors and aren't translated at all, particularly the Japanese one.
Also does anyone have that Halloween special episode that lasted like 25 minutes? I can't find it anywhere other than bootleg versions thereof and it had a lot of funny references.

I'll be honest, these shorts make me really uncomfortable. The artstyle and designs just feel like a creepy perversion of the characters rather than a throwback like they're intended to be. Then there's shorts like >>1031343 and >>1031362 with extremely questionable content that only makes it worse in my mind.

Dude if anything they're truer to the shenanigans and tomfoolery the old Mickey and Donald were used to. The new mollycoddly versions are more of an affront to the originals than these skits'.
>Pete's supposed to be a cat?!
What, you never noticed? I mean, I guess it's kind of understandable, but in the original Steamboat Willie he's quite clearly a big cat.

It's not the shenanigans that creep me out the most. It's the designs. They look almost like Burton-esque caricatures.
I think as a kid I used to think Pete and his son were dogs like Goofy.

Paul Rudish, who has worked on cartoons such as Batman the Animated Series, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars (the Genndy Tartakovsky version), Sym-Bionic Titan (which he co-created), and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Also, he's still in charge. OP's episode is the latest episode of the fifth season of Mickey Mouse shorts.

If you wanna be pedantic about it, they use the old cartoon trope of having outdated technology all over the place because it's more visually catchy, i.e. most telephones look like early 20's stuff. Also there's this weird "ink blots" dirt all over the place, probably to give it the feel of an old movie reel.
>I want my racial caricatures, dangit. Have Mickey get in trouble with the Japanese imperials.
I do miss when the best they could do to mock the Japanese was adding Honolabre X everywhere. Racist or not, that was hilarious.

If anyone doubts they are good, they should check out the Disney shorts they tried before this one, which they e.g. showed in House of Mouse.
Where everything was modernized and unfunny, where Daisy was a nagging psycho girlfriend and Minnie more the horny type.
Where they tried to slap the old concepts on modern tropes and it doesn't work at all. It failed everywhere the new Looney Tunes show succeeded.

I like the general approach, but I think it goes too far into "toilet-gross out" humor to be as good as it could be. It's hit or miss, more miss than hit, like a lot of 90's-00's cartoons now that I think about it. It's a bit of a throwback to that era, certainly better than today but not too great altogether.
