This is a comic in Britain, I saw it at cons a few times. It's a 20-something page series of "graphic novels" which looks like a hundred other self-published efforts, only printed on ridiculously good paper and it costs a fuckload. The average A5, reasonably well printed SP comic goes for £3, this is (iirc) 7 or 8. Oh and it is actually sold in proper bookshops like Heffers and Waterstones. I was amazed when I saw one there, I actually sought out the guy at a con and asked him if he "knew" copies were on sale in Heffers in Cambridge.

Cute show. No major overarching story like Gravity Falls, just a chilled out slice-of-life thing with lighthearted action and nice atmosphere. I wouldn't call it my favorite show of all time, but I'd still love another season.

It's ok, I didn't find it bad there's just no strong reason to watch it the characters aren't that good or interesting and the adventures aren't either. The elves have some cute lore but everything comes off very muted in the story like some passion has been sucked out of everything. The pace reminds me of little bear for some reason, it has a braindead kid feel to it so I'd say this was ACTUALLY made for kids as opposed to entertainment for adults disguised as a kid show.

But it just seems too boring for kids of any ages, I would be very surprised if someone told me it was popular.

Is okay I guess, 7/10. Kinda erratic on its style, it's base mood is comfy but it tries to have horrorish actionish vignettes, not really effectively so.

I only recommend it if you try to use it to pull kids from the spergy cartoons of today as its pace is very peaceful while enough things happen to keep them interested.

My little sister likes it fine as alternative since I don't let her watch Teen Titans Go!

I do like Hilda's personality.

Remember Summer Camp Island and how we complained about being completely toothless and lolsorandumb. This is like it's opposite but still very comfy, just not infuriatingly inoffensive.

I finally got around to watching a few episodes of this. The best thing you can say about it is that it’s better than 99% of the crap on tv nowadays, although that’s not saying much. It’s not bad enough to make you not want to watch it, but it’s not good enough to make you care either. The art style is a bit shit and the animation gets a bit QUALITY at times. The “monster of the week” premise is a bit boring because it never really goes anywhere. Hilda herself is an okay character just because she isn’t an obnoxious cunt like Mabel. Her friends are pretty boring though; the token “smart black girl” and “non-masculine boy” have both been done before.

Most of the dialogue is relatively normal, so I think weird things like that might be down to the TV writers rather than the comic book it was based on. That particular line stood out as being really unfitting.

The show's better when the adventure includes Hilda's mum and the elf, since they're more interesting supporting characters than her kid friends. It's obvious that the show really is for kids but it's still competent. Did anything good come out this year or is this going to be the best cartoon of 2018 just by total absence of competition?
