What are your thoughts on the Hobgoblin and his character?

 No.1004277

I mostly read DC growing up, but I did end up with the odd Marvel comic, including an issue of Spider-Man that detailed the origin of the Rose, who was Kingpin's son and friends with Ned Leeds. It was great. The Hobgoblin was only a supporting character in this comic, but I really got a sense of his character. An investigative reporter comes across a big scoop, and instead of publishing it, he creates a criminal alter ego. And then he gets lost in it, falling in love with being the Hobgoblin. Good stuff.

Underrated character, when Roger Stern wrote him. When other hacks came along and ruined Stern's story they also ruined the Hobgoblin

How do you feel about his appearance in MC2?

 No.1004341

I'm not sure if it's better or worst that Tom Defalco and Jim Owsley/Chris Priest derailed what should've been a simple mystery into a decade-long clusterfuck that Roger Stern still managed to direct back to Roderick Kingsley.

 No.1004343

Is he still the Todd MacFarlane Violator-face version?

No. Demogoblin died a long time ago

Stern should have stayed on the book, he was one of the best Spider-Man writers. He only left because John Romita Jr was also leaving

I genuinely love the direction the 1999 show took with him, considering it was my first introduction to the dude. That Dual-combo Glider is still the tits to me.

They clearly wanted a green goblin knock off that was new, mysterious and threatening again, they just happened to make a really great villain at the same time.
