Danny Phantom's main problem is that the artstyle is a terrible match for an actiony superhero show although it's decent for more comedic or slice-of-life parts. The fights are largely unimaginative, the plots are formulaic, and the whole ghost thing ends up being just window-dressing for what is otherwise garden-variety capeshit. I'll second OP's opinion that it would be nice if it got rebooted, but Hartman needs to be reduced to being an often-ignored ideasguy at most.

It's held back by Hartman's style of writing and Nickelodeon's weird censorship policies (see the Ghost Zone not being the Underworld and ghosts not actually being the dead).

The Legend of Korra. Just by being the sequel to The Last Airbender only to repeatedly retcon, undo, or otherwise undermine what it established (see the loss of Korra's past lives, Raava/Vaatu, Wan, and really how it depicted spirits and their world compared to TLA).

Other cartoons like Juniper Lee, Kim Possible, Jake Long, Tutenstein had a mediocre/decent run to not be called wasted potential. Ben 10, TMNT 2003 were acceptable enough and even called good. Other cartoons ideas were designed to be comedy and mediocre drivel(Dexter's Lab, PPG, 9th Grade Ninja, El Tigre), other cartoon ideas were simply bad to begin with like MLP FIM before they got flanderized even worse.

Other cartoons like Thundercats had 1 good episode before it went to shit. Other cartoons from the 80s had toyetic ideas which had to be severely modified and rebooted to make something good out of them (He-Man 2000s)

Other cartoons got their budget murdered before they got a chance to shine properly (Tron Uprising)

Stuff like Bunnicula doesn't have interesting executions/ideas/villains/story properly designed from the books.

And so on and so forth.

Penn Zero Part Time Hero again feels like it was simply meant to be comedy-driven rather than action and quality-driven.

Randy Cunningham was in a similar situation with Danny Phantom, but absolutely not on the level of DP and not with that retarded FOP comedy. Danny Phantom feels like an attempt at Ben 10/Jake Long in terms of style, but the creator of Fairly Odd Parents is incapable of writing a good action cartoon. It's sad to see these 1 dimensional hacks incapable of emulating more than 1 style still getting popularity.

I'm only really saying this based off of what I remember of the show, which isn't much since it's been quite a while since i've seen it, but MLAATR didn't have any kind of character development, no one really changed throughout all the seasons, and the show was more about the comedy then anything else, which don't get me wrong, it was hilarious, but I would have preferred to see if it was more plot and character focused.

I really liked the retro-futuristic art style and setting, but they wasted it on a generic "superhero in high school" premise. The few times they actually did something interesting, like when they had that other robot girl that Brad was into, they used it like once and then never touched it again. It's not that the characters were uninteresting, I actually liked most of them, it's that they never fucking changed, they never showed any kind of development, regardless of what they went through or did

Easily Legend of Korra. They had an entire series before it filled with lore and an set up the backstory for an entire world that just came out of a century long war. There was a chance to see how the world would rebuild and react to each other after this conflict and see Zuko's mother, but instead we jumped to the 1920s for no reason and had no rational progression to their current timeline or any rational plot progression within each episode. (The world was built around telekintetic control of various elements. Why did they use vehicles powered by gas and not bending? Why did that get dropped?)

We basically just ended up with retconning and lesbians on motorcycles. I tried really hard to like this show. Unfortunately it did nothing but disappoint.

MLP wasn't bad. It was good for its demographic. (3-10 year old girls) I sat through a couple episodes babysitting for my younger cousins and while I still didn't care for it, I didn't hate it as much as some of the shitty fairy or princess movies they've watched. Is there a way to make shows for that demographic actually appealing to other audiences? (I thought of Powerpuff Girls initially but that was aimed at a slightly older group.)

They (Bryke) really wanted to do a dieselpunk show starring a vigilante (or superhero). But got roped into doing a Last Airbender sequel so they just assimilated what little material they had for it into Legend of Korra. It'd address the jarring shift in world (not just technology but fashions, architecture…).

The attempt to make Benders into more or less Mutants for a cross between an X-Men wannabe and a Communism stand-in is worse. Since the depiction of Bending in TLA didn't at all suit what they tried to do in LoK Book One (effectively Benders being a seperate race/ethnicity/whatever you call it instead of a martial art/form of spirituality that some were more attuned to than others).
