> Is not going to church on sunday really that big of a deal?
Not really but you seek some minimum fellowship:
Matthew 18:20: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Used to be very common in America for the more isolated areas that the husband would read the Bible to his wife and kids on Sundays.
> Also, what about dating people of different religions
Bad idea Biblically:
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Also won't quote all the verses, but this is was caused Solomon to fall pretty hard. Basically took a bunch of wives with heathen religions and started practicing their traditions/worshiping other Gods.
