I am of Evangelical background but for the past few months I have been getting into biblical scholarship and church history. What I found shifted me to a more high church direction and made me a sacramentalist. So far I am stuck between conservative anglican and Lutheranism but I feel I am more Anglican leaning overall so I decided to tell my parents that I would be attending an Anglican Holy Communion. They werent happy and started telling me just how Anglicans are sodomites and papists without the pope. They are gonna take me to speak to my pastor today after service to see what he can do. I am worried guys. I dont know what to do. Maybe this was all a mistake

>started telling me just how Anglicans are sodomites

They're not wrong

>Maybe this was all a mistake

Correct. Repent of the novel error of sacramentalism and embrace a more biblical doctrine

Don't get too flustered. The kingdom of God is within you. Just6 try your best not to have an argument over denomination with your parents. it serves no purpose but to make all parties angry and divided.

How can I even do that when there's so much work on Baptism and Eucharist in the NT that just points in that direction? I looked at Beasley Murray and he's close to baptismal regeneration. I looked at many commentaries of the Last Supper and all agree it is a Passover meal and quite a number mention the anamesis which is more than just mental recollection of past event.

And yes, I used to hate high church tendencies but yet some prayers said by Paul and the description in Revelation of heavenly worship just cant be shaken away. I came into this hoping for more insights to strengthen my convictions but what I found require me to change my mind. In fact because you said this, I will be more firm

Oh, just saw this. I should had replied in my last post.

I am trying real hard to be as charitable as I can. I simply said I wanted to see what a traditional Anglican service is like so I wanna attend one maybe next week. I said nothing about how what I find in Scripture now make me question them and my background at all.

I like some aspects of Orthodoxy like theosis but imo, that isnt some Eastern trait but shared by East and West. Other than that I havent looked much into it but I would say that you guys are right on the pope and rejecting Immaculate Conception

It was a mistake and your parents are wiser than you. Anglicans are huge fag enablers and tenuous or unprincipled on the foundational distinctives of protestant vs catholic.

You would be making a huge mistake that you would regret later when you grow up.

Baptist and Evangelicals are mistaken on the bible. When I asked my pastor to explain how baptism is merely a symbol and the early Christian service as being Hillsong, he only said I was blinded by false prophets. He cant even tell me why Galatians 3's statement on baptism should be symbolic.

Scholarship as false all because context and language? Yeah right! Sounds like a bad excuse to be ignoramus

Your pastor sounds like he fell for the "church growth" movement, about the Hillsong thing.

Are you interested in the purest evangelical explanation?

If it can be provided with good reference to context and grammar of the Greek, sure. If not, then it's not a good explanation to begin with.

25bd99  No.2536

Like explain the discrepancy between scholarship and the evangelical view on Baptism and Eucharist. Explain the same between it and the early Christians like Ignatius or Irenaeus

There are several branches of Anglicanism that are 100% fag free, such as the ACNA and the Reformed Episcopal Church.
