The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Can you please explain the difference between transcedence and immanence? Those seem to be important concepts in Christian thinking, yet I can't get a grasp on them.

Thabk you in advance, brothers.

>Can you please explain the difference between transcedence and immanence?

Greetings from leftypol just wandered in to have a look at your front page and saw this

Transcend, trans = other side

eg. Transalpine Gaul, Gaul clay on the other side of – ie. Beyond – the Alps from the perspective of rome (vs. Cisalpine Gaul which was Gaulish clay on this side of the Alps from the roman perspective)

Descend = go down, ascend = go up, transcend = go beyond

Immanence, think immediate as in directly within – confronted by – the media, trancendence = the state of transcending

Immanence, the state of being immanent

For example immanent critique is to critique a text, ideology, philosophy or the like on its own terms from within

Make sense?

Before I read this and initially only saw OP I thought of responding with this, which is succint way of capturing precisely what you've put:

Transcendance: beyond

Immanence: within

Checked

So transcendent is whatever is outside of this world? For example, is God the Father transcendent as you cannot find him in the material world?
