>which ones
Well, these guys, just to give an example:
http://biblicalmissiology.org/2016/06/06/5-reasons-muslim-friendly-bible-translations-are-counterproductive/
https://www.change.org/p/lost-in-translation-keep-father-son-in-the-bible
Notice that the ones signing aren't exactly clueless.
>and compared to who?
The ones that have been there for a long time, be they apostolic episcopates and patriarchates, or older protestant missions that know discretion is the better part of valor, and stealing believers between themselves is a no-no.
>show me
Ill show later, when it comes to the Middle East.
But look at Ukraine, for example.
The Bible-Belt of the Soviet Union, and evangelicals were not persecuted worse than the rest(certainly not worse than the uniates).
Nowadays the only churches that are still existing in any decent number are eastern, be they orthodox or catholic.
>sad, I agree. Bad missionaries in that example, but they're not only from the US according to the article
If you know german, or romanian, read Christen in der islamischen Welt by Martin Tamcke.
You'll find this trend has actually been a pretty common thing in the past centuries, from Lebanon, to Jerusalem, to British Egypt.
>we gotta convert the muslims/commies to Christ with the Bible!
>arrive in the Middle East/totalitarian hellhole;
>flaunt around, either completely ignore native churches, or decide the corrupted fags lost their will to evangelise, and therefor are no longer invalid, and are only useful to be poached, and how you are gonna convert their country to Christ;
>had some minor success;
>situation turns south due to one geopolitical reason or another, modern mission becomes practically extinct, one way or another;
>older believers get partially exterminated too, and are now ostracized even further, for being considered fifth columns for the Western missionaries;
Btw, that guy is a lutheran theologian, so you can't invoke confessional bias.
Again, i don't particularly care if some random pastor decided to convert some tribe in the jungle/India/whatever.
You guys did a good job in places like Nagaland, or the American Frontier.
But given current evangelistic focuses for orgs like this(islamic world+totalitarian East Asia), i'd rather not shoot Christianity in the foot by helping some ignorant dumbass make things worse.
