There aren’t even words to describe how insane this is.
One wonders why Nadia Bolz-Weber even wants to be a pastor. With the beliefs she has about sex, she could simply just be a regular woman in the world.
Perhaps she enjoys all the praise and attention she gets for being a “Christian” who condones premarital sex and pornography (oh, but only if it’s “ethically sourced.”)
After all, progressives absolutely love to pretend to care about Christian morality if they can use it against conservative Christians, totally failing to understand that one random pink-haired liberal “pastor” can’t single-handily undermine God’s objective morality just because she says things that sound more like they come from the Women’s March than the pulpit.
Bolz-Weber is just their gal for this, and she’s making waves with a new “art project” aimed at denouncing “purity culture” and promoting…well, vaginas, apparently.

>Liberal Lutheran pastor and author Nadia Bolz-Weber has encouraged women to send her their purity rings to be melted down and recast into a golden vagina in protest of evangelical purity culture.
>On Twitter, Bolz-Weber, founding pastor of Denver’s House for All Sinners and Saints, issued a call for people to send her those rings “for a massive art project.”
>“Beginning November 12th, until December 17th, you’ll have the opportunity to send in your purity rings to be melted down and recast into a golden vagina,” she explained on her website. “This sculpture will be unveiled at the 2019 Makers Conference.”
>The website states that those who send in their rings will then receive a “certificate of Impurity as well as a SHAMELESS, impurity ring.”
Again, here is this idea that morality is determined by those who follow the Bible, as if purity culture is wrong because American evangelicals made it up.
It’s not “purity culture” that calls us to be holy and to reserve sexual intimacy for the sacred, not to mention safe, bonds of marriage.
It’s the infallible Word of God.
By the way, how does making a giant vagina statue empower women at all? How does reducing a woman down to her copulatory organs do anything to combat shame or legalism?
The world is full of both women and men who have engaged in sex outside of marriage and seek the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. There are always going to be churches who treat extramarital sex wrongly, whether being too liberal towards it or unsympathetic to repentant sinners.
This is why we rely on the Bible to guide us, not how people act, and encouraging young women to follow the teaching of the Bible and to have an open and honest relationship with their parents in which they can discuss the importance of purity is far, far better for our culture than encouraging sexual relationships just because some random female pastor makes a vagina statue…or something.
One final thought: do these people seriously miss the bitter irony that we are right now, in the #MeToo era, witnessing the many pitfalls of a sexually open culture? Do they really not understand that when churches and communities discourage young men and women to take sex seriously and aim to save it for marriage, there are far more social structures in place to protect women from abuse and assault?
If only so-called feminist pastors actually did care about protecting women from untoward and abusive men. Then they would find all the solutions they need in the Bible.
