The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Fellas I've been fairly non-religious for about five years and now that I'm looking back into Christianity and more specifically Catholicism I'm starting to like the concepts more and more

The only thing I disagree with is the bible being the direct and fault-proof word of God considering it was actually written by man

Am I being converted? Is this the end of my life as a degenerate?

Literally no one from any denomination claims it wasn't written by man. It was inspired by God

There's not a single catholic church nearby

This might sound stupid, but would a protestant church suffice?

I'm a Lutheran so I would say it more than suffices. But if you want to be a catholic and there are no catholic churches just go to an Episcopalian/Anglican church they are pretty much just crypto catholics

The bible was written by the students of the apostles (or apostles themselves) who were first hand witnesses to Christ our Lord.

What you need is a true believe in Christ, not some religiosity.

By all means, begome

But if you don't cling to Christ,

… if Christ is not your entire reason for living …

… merely joining Catholicism or any other Christian church will do nothing for your salvation.
