I don't know if I do anymore. There seem to be scriptures that suggest that we dont. God made some and saved them, others are predestined. If all are predestined, then there are some that can't be saved.

Even then, that doesn't really matter. I dont feel like I have a choice. We are forced into creation and forced to choose. This has depressed me. Besides that, I am a terrible christian. I dont know if I love God, because I resent having to be here. On the contrary, life the christian way and prayer are great things that make me feel good and seem to suggest I am interacting with something.

In the midst of my existential crisis, for its sake, i am upset for existing. Thus i dont know if i have free will.

Help pls.

I believe in free will, my reading on it has been the Bible and the Saints and the Fathers/Doctors, and it does affect my faith. It makes me humbler to have free will, and it allows me to go forward towards God (even though it is more like He is pulling me).

Original Sin is the first time we used our Free Will to defy God's Wisdom.

He seemed surprised and appalled.

Pretty good case for Free Will.

Determinism is a pretty dangerous way to think if you're not a super convinced believer of God… it's the path of nihilism, futility, depression, hedonism, etc.

Why even have a book teaching you how to act if it's all ultimately playing out just how God wants it?

All the meaning in your life comes from your choices… determinism robs us of everything other than hoping we are one of the lucky predestined.

That comic nails it… if you have a God's-Eye view of the world then sure, deterministic, but you don't.

People use determinism to rationalize their sins, their bad works, their laziness and reticence.

Free Will is God's greatest gift to man.

Sounds like a people problem, not a determinism problem. Determinism is healthy because you know your mistakes were meant to happen. Having an overly critical mind and believing in non-deterministic free will is a recipe for depression. Fatasses will be fatasses no matter how they justify it to others. What’s more important is healing the sick than trying to convince fatasses of something they don’t care about either way.
