SSPX consecrated bishops against the direct orders of John Paul II. Since Archbishop Lefebvre went against Petrine authority, excommunication followed. Benedict lifted the excommunications on the bishops (IIRC Lefebvre had already died so there was no point), however what authority they are allowed to have is up in the air.
In general, confessions and sacraments are valid, and they can have new priests consecrated. That said, until the situation is fully resolved the general suggestion of NOT attending their Mass unless it is an emergency is still in effect.
Also keep in mind that there are groups splintering away from the main body of SSPX that are in significantly less good standing with Rome that do not recognize the authority of Rome, and in some cases have actively hetrodox positions. You will have to use your discernment in this regard.
