>how has Christianity changed your life in a positive way?
I feel mentally healthier. It gives me focus in life, and perspective. I'm more satisfied with my station in life whereas before I was constantly envious of people with more wealth. I pray every morning and it reaffirms my commitment to follow Christs path and to treat all people with the dignity and respect owed to those made in the imago dei, from the poorest street beggar to the richest CEO.
The Bible is an excellent source of general wisdom for every day life, especially the Wisdom books, both Wisdom of Solomon and Wisdom of Sirach. It gives me a good framework to live by, to understand what it means to be a good person and to work toward that goal. Before when I was an atheist being a "good person" simply meant being inoffensive. I'd consider myself a good person because I was polite, wasn't rude and mostly minded my own business in public then I'd go home and jack it to porn. Now I understand to be good takes active effort, to not just act as an individual but to take responsibility for your community, to be involved, to help other people whenever the opportunity presents itself. Being inoffensive is not enough, you need to live for others and place them ahead of your own desires.
It made me understand what it truly is to be human. To think about things, to place the body in submission to your mind and to live according to reason rather than living according to the desires of the flesh like animals do. To fast and practice chastity is to be human to the fullest extent, to deny animalistic base urges and say I do what I do according to my own will and nothing more.
Christ laid down the path to living a truly fulfilled and blessed life, according to the will of the Father in Heaven who sets our paths and who takes us up to him, who rights all wrongs and rewards those who are righteous.
>The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
