The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I finished reading the first five books of the Old Testament. Should I keep going, or skip to the New Testament and then come back?

Tie phylacteries to your arm and forehead and go do prayer recitations at the wailing wall.

Why didn't you start with the New Testament first gospels?

I'd say read them first, then continue with OT.

“Let us lie in wait for the righteous man,

because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions;

he reproaches us for sins against the law,

and accuses us of sins against our training.

He professes to have knowledge of God,

and calls himself a child of the Lord.

He became to us a reproof of our thoughts;

the very sight of him is a burden to us,

because his manner of life is unlike that of others,

and his ways are strange.

We are considered by him as something base,

and he avoids our ways as unclean;

he calls the last end of the righteous happy,

and boasts that God is his father.

Let us see if his words are true,

and let us test what will happen at the end of his life;

for if the righteous man is God’s son, he will help him,

and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries.

Let us test him with insult and torture,

that we may find out how gentle he is,

and make trial of his forbearance.

Let us condemn him to a shameful death,

for, according to what he says, he will be protected.”

Thus they reasoned, but they were led astray,

for their wickedness blinded them,

and they did not know the secret purposes of God,

nor hope for the wages of holiness,

nor discern the prize for blameless souls;

for God created man for incorruption,

and made him in the image of his own eternity,

but through the devil’s envy death entered the world,

and those who belong to his party experience it.

Wisdom 2:12-24

Why should I be reading it in that order? That looks like you just picked out chapters and listed them from favorite to least favorite.

You should read Nehemiah 9 at least. It's an excellent summary of the OT and how we show look upon God.

Skip the OT. It's too long and Jesus retconned it anyway.

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law of the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Matthew 5:17-18

I'm up to 1 Chronicles in a chronological order reading and it hasn't really gotten any easier. I can see why >>699514 put the historical books at the end. His order looks pretty good to me, but I have the tism so I have to read it all in order.
