I am without a car, and the closest Church to me within walking distance is an Indian orthodox church. I am not Indian or Orthodox but i keep making the excuse of Church being too far away, so i think it would be a good idea to get rid of that excuse and just go to the closest church.

Does anyoanyonanyoanyone have any experience with this church or Indians orwhat I should expect?

No harm in going, but a liturgy in English is not guaranteed.

Just do it man. It's a church, it has the sacraments, it's Orthodox in theology. Convert.

>it's Orthodox in theology

Hell no. They're Monophysites.

Now, if the OP considers that this is orthodox, I'm not going to stop him. But don't spread misinformation - they are heretics by Eastern Orthodox standards.

No they're not. It was a linguistic misunderstanding. They are not Monophysites. They are Orthodox they just need to accept Chalcedon and they'll be in full communion with the Orthodox Catholic Church.

>the Fathers and the saints and the ecumenical councils anathematized them over a linguistic misunderstading

I'm not sure you know how this works.

>They are not Monophysites

How many natures of Christ do they admit after the union?

>They just need to accept Chalcedon

… and Constantinople II, and Constantinople III, and Nicea II. And to lift their anathema on Pope Leo. And to anathematize Dioscorus and Severus.

>They're Monophysites.

They're Miaphysites. Theologians and church leaders on both sides that the Christological differences between the Oriental Orthodox and those who accepted Chalcedon were only verbal, and that in fact both parties profess the same faith in Christ using different formulas.

Miaphysitism is Monophysite. They call themselves Miaphysites to distinguish themselves from Eutychianism. Still, it is Monophysitism, and not just Eutychianism, that is under anathema.

If they want to prove their orthodoxy, they must lift their anathema on Pope Leo and on Chalcedon, and embrace the council and the subsequent ecumenical councils.

I couldn't care less what the Catholics may have said. The Eastern Catholics that came from the Assyrian Church of the East literally venerate Nestorius as a saint…

Do you not know how this works? Miaphysitism is completley in line with Orthodoxy. The term directly comes from St. Cyril at Ephesus where he uses the term "mia physis". Monophysitism =/= Miaphysitism. Stop being so obtuse.

I suggest you take a look at "The Dyophysite Christology of Cyril of Alexandria".

The formula "mia physis" only came later in his life, because he thought certain Appolinarian texts were in fact the works of orthodox theologians.

A theology that only finds its roots in one Father, himself influenced by heretics, is unlikely to be "completely in line" with Orthodoxy. That it led the Oriental Orthodox to anathematize the Council of Chalcedon and Pope Leo and to cut themselves off from the Church is only confirmation of this.

You might as well try it, take some pics im sure some of us will remember

I love that part in the bible where God blasts Monophysitism in particular.

I dont know about Leo, but they accept the later councils.

They actually have a West Syrian Rite. They were are descended from churches that were originally part of the Nestorian community in India and were converted to Syriac Orthodoxy by Syriac bishops during a period of internal crises over succession and of Portuguese colonization.

Sounds pretty cool of you to do but might be a problem if all your able to encounter are Malayalam liturgies.
