The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Earlier on Japanese TV show. They ranked the top "unbelievable/trustworthy" phrases. Marriage vows lands in 5th. Do people have any ideas what covenant and vows means any more? Is the concept of personal integrity and honour lost? My friends got a good laugh at it, I did not. It sunk my spirit quite a bit.

>Bro, it is just a pop variety show. It is rubbish, do not take it so serious.

I know. But covenants and vows should not be made mocked. Just made me sad at the state of marriage in these ever darkening days.

Well Japan isn't really a Christian nation yet, so its understandable to some capacity. Honestly, I can't think of any one nation which follows Christ's laws on adultery. Its all a mess these days.

Just curious though what was number 1?

It's the same as people swearing on the Bible in court. In this pagan society it adds as much weight as swearing on Batman. I hope civilisation changes though. I hope a crusade across the Western world takes hold and that the Holy Spirit changes the hearts of millions within our lifetime.

>Well Japan isn't really a Christian nation yet,

Also this.

Considering the amount of failed/loveless marriages that people have either experienced or seen from friends and family, I can hardly blame them for thinking such vows are meaningless.

Historically, honor and being true to one's words were often seen as virtues by pagans. This is no excuse, especially coming from a shaming-based society like Japan.

there is an excuse, that vows and swears of honor made by mere man are inherently flawed. without an understanding of God or His divine revelation/Word, there is no perfection among them

even in the US there's at least an attempt by real christians here

Infidelity is very common in Japan, but they don't like to talk about it. The East is just as degenerate as the West, they're just better at covering it up.

Marriage isn't the same there as it is for Christian, Christmas is more of a couples holiday.
