Having too many Generals starts to defeat the point of having an imageboard. Threads should rise and fall based on the merit and value of discussion. If we make a bunch of Generals for every topic, I think board quality would get even worse. If we are tired of repeat and spam threads, the BO should create requirements for posting such as always a subject line, character count etc.

I admit that's a problem. There's also the problem of 5 or 6 creation threads being up at any given time. I honestly don't know what the solution would be.

No it's entirely good. There needs to be more generals. Ever wondered why people are fed up with the board ? Because the moment you make a thread like "hey I'm Catholic but can some orthos enlighten me on their fasting ?" protestants will jump in and scandalize everyone and oftentimes it's not even going to be deleted. They just derail the thread and that's it. But in a general I can ask a question and be sure to get a reasonable answer without derailment, because in a general thread derailing posts are usually deleted very quickly.

So yeah, of course we don't want a general for every denomination, but the nofap, the Catholic, the ortho, the QTDDTOT, the nofap and baptist general threads are absolutely fine. Might as well add a protestant general and then everyone should be set.

The casual threads will exist still and make up a big portion of the board, but considering how many fag bait and outright troll threads there are since …. every .. not having a thread die because of some r9k question is absolutely fine.

imo the more generals we have for these topics for which there are often two or three threads in the catalog at a given time (and yes there are about 5 of these on this topic at the moment) will mean the genuinely unique ones which otherwise get lost down the catalog would remain a little longer providing the opportunity for more fruitful discussion in them
