>I know the guy is wrong on many points.
Yes he is. He's both taking away from scripture and paraphrasing it to support himself.
>I am only talking about the ones of selling everything you have and following him.
Jesus also said that with men this is impossible but with God all things are possible.
>I am working a job and have money in the bank so that if something bad happens I can provide. Am I in the wrong?
1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
2 Thess. 3:10-12
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
>It seems to Jesus I would be… so what do?
Well Jesus said to Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. Also John the Baptist said in Luke 10 that "He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise" and that people should be content with their wages. This all implies that working a job to be able to provide for his household and others is the right course of actions. Yes, this alone is not enough to get into heaven; you can't earn your way according to Romans 3; but remember that with God all things are possible.
>Also didn't Jesus say that by forcing her in some way to leave me I am committing a grave sin?
Being poor shouldn't be a cause for divorce, but nevertheless choosing not to follow 1 Timothy 5:8 and others is definitely not the right thing to do. Hope that helps.
