The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Decided to go church hopping for a bit, just to see how some of the others in my area were. I decided to go to a Disciples of Christ church that had some pretty liberal ideas

>Most of the Bible is metaphorical, not literal

>Homosexuality is not a sin

>Feminine or Neutral Gendered language when discussing God

Whats the weirdest church that you've ever been to and how do these teachings make you feel?

>Quaker Meeting/church

-No preaching people just start talking when they feel moved to.

-No mention of Jesus or the Apostles

-Mainly just old people talking about their feelings on the homophile referendum and other political things between large blocks of silence

Felt like a clubs for hippies

>Some strange baptist church that made a big deal out their pastor being a surfer

-KJV Only

-obsessed with evolution, Darwin, Sigmund Freud and fluoridation of water

Felt a tad culty and almost overcompensating,

>Catholic Church

-All in Latin and effectively just repeating words from a little book with only a about 15 minutes of preaching.

Very beautiful singing an incense however it felt very mechanical.

>Mormons

-3 hours (1 in service one for classes and another for specific classes/meetings)

-Sermons consist of a number of the laity/missionaries giving a talk about set topics/themes

-they take communion whilst seated and with water instead of wine.

-Always refer to God the Father as heavenly father

-Places a lot of emphasis on personal testimonies (that are constantly repeated)

-Best choirs

-Ideas and teachings which sound innocent but are literally satanic when you consider the implications.

>IFB

- Extremely bible focused and passionate

-Took the great commission seriously

-Preaching that wasnt afraid

- Great music and hymns

-Their once saved always saved doctrine was more complicated that it seemed on face value.

-Kinda scared me a bit when they talked about how salvation can become impossible even if you believe in Christ if you reject God too often before that point.

One of these things is not like the other.

Yeah I felt it was a bit cheeky to include the Mormons (although they are more Christian than the Quakers I visited) but I figured anons might be interested to know what goes on in their services

>Always refer to God the Father as heavenly father

tbh, Christians should do it more often. Its sad that post-christian gn*stic-like heresy is using it more often than we do.

I've been to a local "free" church for a while but I recently decided to leave. Why? well the pastor, although he often made fun of catholics in his sermons, he taught us catholic doctrine.

What is a "free" church? I thought all churches were free?

79555a No.666130

>enter local church

>guy in a guitar sings some pop songs

>EVERYBODY NOW every now and then

>clapping

>they get interested in me for some reason and the pastor calls me to spill some "sacred" oil on my head

>leave

>enter baptist church

>literally pews and a wooden cross in a white background and that's it

>sermon goes for 45 minutes

>SHOUTING every couple of WORDS thinking this is SOMEHOW good rhetoric

>Everytime he reads the Bible he says: this is not a metaphor folks!!!

>doesn't know what the words symbol or metaphor mean

>starts passive agressively complaining of the Cath'lics (which I'm not a part of) while looking at me

>leave

Bible study meeting are the most interesting tbh.

>Woman in charge says: how can God hurt a sodomite

>I try to explain to them that they are nominalists and that Love in the Bible doesn't mean comfort

>They hear but disregard me.

>I say that atheists and satanists are one and the same because they ultimately don't believe in Absolute Morality

>Hurrr what do you mean? What is good for me is not good for you, you can't enforce your views on others

>leave

Whenever I think to myself that more people should read the Bible things like this remind me why the Church didn't let lay people read the Bible with absolutely no guidance.
