For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Jesus:

“Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’ Matt 7:21-24

Paul:

"For, “every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”" Romans 10:13

What did He mean by this?

Is it really as simple as addressing Jesus by name? Matt 10:32, Luke 12:8. But what about saying Jesus is Lord? Romans 10:9

Philippians 2:9-11 says:

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

>And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

So Paul would seem to align pretty accurately to what Jesus is talking about in Matthew 7 here. The simple difference seems to be that once everyone is forced to recognize him as Lord, it will be too late to call on him then.

Psalm 145:18

The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

> Romans 10:13

''That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

To confess the Lord Jesus, and to call upon the name of the Lord, is not barely the professing of a belief in the person of Christ: but moreover implies a belief of his whole doctrine, and an obedience to his law; without which the calling of him Lord will save no man. (Matt 7)

This passage must be understood like many others of this apostle, of a faith accompanied by a good-will ready to perform what faith says must be practised; as it is required in this very place, that what we believe in the heart, we should confess with our mouth.

>Matt 7:21-24

You realize that proves it's faith alone and believing you need works sends you to hell right? He says people are going to say "and do many mighty works in your name?" also the Father's will is believe in Jesus(John 6:38-40)

First off, stop being a lazy retard and read the whole text and Orthodox Church commentary.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

The very next verses answer you.

There is neither Jew nor Greek. Because Romans 10 is talking about how ALL will be saved through faith and not through blood, as the Pharisees taught and what modern jews believe.

Modern Jews literally think we're animals not children of Adam.

The new covenant is based on faith and not on blood that is the center of the text and NOT the false works vs faith dychotomy worldly heresies want you to velieve.

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
