For example, I pray for a person I know, but what if subconsciously I am just doing that to feel good about myself?

Or what if I pray for my brother, but in reality the prayer is just because if his life is better (in regards to what I am praying specifically about him) then that means I selfishly dont have to worry about it?

I am interested in what you have to say, because it seems for me that all I do is, deep down, a selfish action

If you look far enough into anything, it can be seen as selfish. Breathing is selfish because you only do it to stay alive.

when you pray for someone you love is not selfish. It's love. Also you can, and you should pray for yourself. Love others as you love yourself. Imagine that you ask for a scorpion. Let God decide if your prayer aligns with His will. God will not give you a scorpion. unless you want a scorpion as pet
