The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Hello christ anons.

I wanted to know what your opinion is on willful sinning. Does God forgive willful sin? for example recently I have fallen under the temptation of pornography like I know many of my brothers on here have but I seem to keep going back to it no matter how hard I try. I'm trying and praying that I can beat this addiction but the problem is the past times I've masturbated I did it knowing full well that what I was doing was wrong and that it is a sin against God. My question is will I be forgiven? And if (God forbid) I continue to fall under temptation will he continue to forgive me?

thx in advance for any responses

Mortal sin is by definition willful and yes God forgives it via you going to confession.

What you're describing is called grave sin, and God will gladly forgive you but you must admit to Him what you have done and at least try to not do it again (best done through a priest in Confession).

Venial (or light) sin is when you sin without knowing that what you've done is sin, when you do know something is sinful but do it anyway then it's grave sin. The difference is mainly that being in the state of grave sin forbids you from taking Communion and has negative effects on your soul, so you should get rid of it asap. There is no sin that God doesn't forgive.

Why does everyone think that there is something special about their sin that makes it unforgivable? Soon we will see people saying "I wore a red shirt, can my sin be forgiven"?

>so you think you're better than me, huh?

Don't project your insecurity unto others, OP didn't claim to be special. Not everyone does like you, even if you can't admit it to yourself.

Repent and confess each time you fall and yes, He forgives you each time. If only you ask. Amazing, I know but you can thank Christ and His death and resurrection for that.

>OP didn't claim to be special

It wouldn't seem that way.

I mean if you passed reading the new testament 101 you'd know the answer to this one:

>Does God forgive willful sin?

This is my understanding. Please correct me if I'm wrong:

God gave us a conscious for making good/bad decisions. A man doesn't commit sin when he is not in control of himself or the world around him (mentally retarded). However, a man does commit sin when he is in control and knowingly transgresses God's law.
